Mod to make trunk closing less awkward?

I can't be the only goober out there that thinks closing the trunk on my 2006 6MT is awkward as all get-out. No?

Nothing came back after doing some quick forum searching...but I've got to believe that it's been addressed on this forum, already, if not over and over again.

After all, who likes the idea of putting your fingers on the top of the trunk lid...and grinding any surface grime into the paint, just to close the trunk. Not to mention the schmutz now stuck to your fingers that are about eight seconds away from wiping themselves on your steering wheel and gear shift ****.

Anyone rigged up a decent strap or handle on the inside to make closing the trunk possible without touching the exterior? Pics would be nice.

Thanks.
Rico

I used to use the Infiniti logo to shut mine, but now I use the lip of carpet just under the painted metal of the trunk. its awkward, odd to do, but now I have it down and I can close it perfectly (without Slamming it) in one sweep of my hand (and touching no paint). good luck!

wow lol shoot yourselfs

maybe try keeping a 100% cotton terry cloth in your door panel or glove box so every time you pop your trunk grip it with the terry cloth since your so concerned with the paint and finger prints man... sorry to say its only a G35 not a Ferrari, lambo, Porsche and in that instance yea i would be a little **** about finger prints lol

Lol this thread is funny. I have a 2004 with the iron board spoiler and I always use the back of my hand so I don't get any dirt/oil on the trunk. I always look like a retard doing it though. Haha

Palm of hand on the edge of the metal(side of center portion), trunk closes fine and I don't leave any marks.

Is this a joke? Are your hands really that ****ed up that you're going to mess up your paint? Is your car so dirty it's going to destroy your steering wheel or shift ****? We drive G35's. Not Aston Martins...

I usually pull my hand back into my sleeve and use either my hoodie or coat to close the trunk.

Just close it in the same spot every time. I'm sure if you wash your G on a regular basis you don't have to worry about dirt/oil from your hands.
