Closing the trunk on a G35 is pretty much the same as closing the trunk on 75% of the other cars out there.... you put your hand on the lid of the trunk or some other painted portion of it and push down. Personally, I don't find it awkward and haven't noticed any smudges on my trunk as a result of closing it.

I'm pretty **** about my G, but the trunk thing just doesn't phase me. The biggest annoyance as far as smudges are concerned (IMO) are the streaks/smudges that always appear on the side door windows from opening and closing them, and also from passengers who try to close the door by the window instead of by the door chassis itself.

I've found that my hands are pretty clean and don't leave much if any marks.. however My wife and pretty much anyone that use lotions always end up leaving greasy smudges all over near the passenger door handle. I find myself cleaning that **** constantly. Like someone else recommended, it's best just to get a Microfiber cloth and keep it in the car.

Trunk issue

I own a sedan, so I don't have this problem. It does seem to be a bit ****. I'm not picking on anyone, but do you wash your hands incessantly? It's a car...there's road dirt all over the place!! The paint can handle a little finger fungus and vice versa.

Its not an issue of dirty hands, its the dirt that accumulates on the trunk thats an issue. Every time you touch a dirty surface on the car you scratch the clear coat. On the coupes the rear end is the first part of the car that becomes dirty and gets that way quick, so don't give me this BS that you wash your car every week because if the car is daily driven then it doesn't matter. And I don't mean covered in dirt, I'm referring to anything on the surface of the paint that is able to scratch it. Personally, I try not to touch the paint with anything unless I'm washing the car.

Nothing came back after doing some quick forum searching...but I've got to believe that it's been addressed on this forum, already, if not over and over again.

After all, who likes the idea of putting your fingers on the top of the trunk lid...and grinding any surface grime into the paint, just to close the trunk. Not to mention the schmutz now stuck to your fingers that are about eight seconds away from wiping themselves on your steering wheel and gear shift ****.

Anyone rigged up a decent strap or handle on the inside to make closing the trunk possible without touching the exterior? Pics would be nice.

Thanks.
Rico

This is what I did.
Just get an old washbag (I used my HS locker gym bag), cut some holes on both ends, and then run the plastic clip that we have on the inside of our trunks to hold it in place!

What do you mean? The material was sturdy enough to pull the heavy trunk on just one side.
