Any body heard of this? I was browsin the Audi S4 on MSN Auto, and decided to price it just for the heck of it, and the first thing I see is this bogus shi* which costs $1700!! Ain't that some B.S. What are they going to charge next, head-light usage tax? As if gas prices weren't punishing enough....I mean cmon 1700 is like gas for a year!

 

That sounds like the G/Guzzler tax for a Bentley...... I think mine on the G was $100.
Like the ad says "someone's always got their hand in your pocket". GRRR

 

The point of the gas guzzler tax is to "punish" people who buy cars with low gas mileage. The worse the mpg, the higher the tax.

 

yup there definitely is something such as Gas Guzzler's tax and its for those cars that get very poor gas mileage.

I got my receipt out for my 05 G35X and I was charged $250 Can. for the Gas Tax.

Anyone know the the law on SUV's in the US regarding gas guzzler tax? I was under the impression that Bush passed a bill limiting the tax applied to those who drive SUV's despite the fact that they are as bad or worse than most trucks on the road today. Talk about deep pockets and back room deals!

Sounds like they've upped the taxes (no surprise. ) or maybe combined gas and air taxes, (and upped it)

My '03 G-Sedan bought in June of '02 was: $75 G/Guzzler tax, and $100 air conditioner tax.
My '03 Coupe bought in Jan. '03 was: $100 Gas/G tax, and $100 air tax.

SUV's (and even the PT crusier) are classified as trucks and are exempt from the gas guzzler tax and do not have to meet the same emission standards as cars.

 

...because you are already punishing yourself when buying a PT Cruiser (looks wise) and when buying an SUV (gas costs wise).

 

Colin I am afraid the $250 gas tax was beside my $100 air con tax. This was at the Guelph dealer.
