Help me appraise my G35 to set a fair asking price!

Hey all, the time has come for me to sell the G35. Its one of the best cars I've ever driven but its getting too small for me. Here's some of the background info, recent service and mods on my G.

Its Laser Red/black, 108k miles, automatic transmission. Clean title. Located in Silicon Valley in California.

MAINTENANCE: brand new front brake rotors and pads (November), oil change with synthetic oil (October), new valve cover gaskets and spark plugs (no leaking valve covers with oil-soaked spark plugs, nor does it consume oil; done in September), brand new front windshield (also in September), brand new battery (April). Rear brakes have 80% life left and tires all around have 70% left.

Stock options include a navigation system and the Premium Pkg. (Bose sound system, automatic Xenon headlights, moonroof, dual climate control, auto-dimming mirror with Homelink system).

Mods: polyurethane V2 Nismo front bumper, Gialla grille with floating Infiniti emblem, side strakes and black matte rear valance. Huper Optik 40% tints all around.

There is a little bit of wear and tear as expected for a commuter car this old, but its nothing major (few minor scratches and a rattling passenger-side window).

KBB has it around $10k and I'm thinking about asking $13k/obo, but am realistically expecting $12.5k...what do you guys think? Am I being too much of a dreamer? There's over $6000 worth of maintenance and body work done to it since I got the car 2 years ago.

Maintenance is just that maintenance. That's like trying to include the price you paid to get the car detailed in the asking price. That's something that was needed for you to continue to drive it. If they are going for 10 ask for 12 and be happy for anything you get above the 10

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
And remember mods do not usually improve the value of a car, usually they devalue it to the general public. However to the right person they might make it more appealing so I agree with oc above. Being an 03 with over 100K miles, consider yourself lucky to get anything over 10K. I'd definitely list it on Driver and as many G/Z forums you can find.

Dunno about your area...but here in FL, a G like that would easily have an asking price of $12-13k. The aftermarket mods will de-value it somewhat to the average buyer, so I'd guess-timate $11-12k would be a fair asking price. I personally wouldn't let it go for a penny less than $10k. Detail that thing and clean the engine bay and you should have no problem getting rid of it.

edmunds.com has a good estimator. I find the pricing to be more sensitive to regions than KBB.

I think its funny when I see posts like this.

People, regardless of options when given a vehicles year, mileage and condition there is a $2k+/- that you should expect from the Blue Book Value/NADA.

We do not drive vehicles which fluctuate 10k,15k,20k or greater depending on features/options.

Thanks for the input guys - I think I'll set the price at $12.5k/obo.

Now if I can only figure out a way for Craigslist to stop making my ad mysteriously disappear...

As a seller I'll set the price at $12,500
As a buyer I'll offer you $9500 max $10,000.
Question..did you have an oil consumption before you replaced the valve cover gaskets?
If you did
Did changeing the valve gasket solve the oil consumption?

Amazing how the prices jump from different part of the country. When I see prices for vehicles for cars that are sold outside of the tri-state (jersey, new york, connecticut) its almost a night a day difference. I live in Jersey and purchased my car in Connecticut which basically saved a few thousand bucks off the KBB value when compared to cars in NJ and NY. Even still my purchase price was more than what you guys probably paid on the west coast.

So I guess it matters where you live, vehicle condition and some luck...

Yeah, I'm sure it's partly based on supply and demand. The type and age of people who live in the region, as well as what they're actually using the vehicle for also will have an effect. Another factor that I've noticed is dependant on region is the overall condition of the vehicle. Northern states get snow and ice, use salts and sands on the roads, etc....so I've noticed it's harder to keep a vehicle(exterior, chassis, engine bay, even interior) in immaculate condition up north if you drive it through the winter. From what I've seen and my personal experience, I would take a southern state vehicle 9 out of 10 times over one which has spent much of its life in a northern state.

Since i was looking for g35's for months before i bought mine, and i looked in the bay area alot too, i would say you should get around 11-12k for that car. and i would part the mods out first and then sell it. it would save you money.
