How to remove gas pedal.

I need to replace the aluminum 'sport' gas pedal on my 06 6MT coupe. I want to replace it with a wider one from Ultimate Pedals or with one I make myself. I need a wider one for heel-toe shifting. I can't tell how the OEM one is attached nor how to re-attach a replacement. Any help would be appreciated. Pics would be great. Thanks.

Not sure about the sports, but my rubber pedal just slid over the metal one. You can try and feel around for screws underneath otherwise Id try just to slide it up and then off. GL!

This pedal feels like it is attached to an 'L' shaped rod. I could not feel any screws. I will probably need to get a mirror to see behind it. If it is somehow fixed to this rod permanently I may just fabiricate a wider piece of aluminum to bolt on over the existing aluminum. The extra height might help with heel-toe ( I actually use the side of my foot to blip the throttle, not my heel).

On the under side of the pedal towards the back of the firewall is a plastic black clip. As you are looking down on the pedal it would be on the top, left underside. Take a small flat head screwdriver and just pry the clip open. The pedal should come off very easily.

If you give me a few minutes, Ill go remove mine and take a couple pics.

Excellent. Thank you very much. I'm not sure the Ultimate Pedal is made to fit this set up and I don't think I can fabricate a replacement with the loop over the black rod end so I may just fabricate a pedal to bolt on top of the existing one. I really only need it to be 1/2 inch wider to be perfect.

I cannot find anyone who makes a direct replacement wider (racing) gas pedal that will fit the way the stock one does. Most replacement pedals are made to replace the standard rubber pedal which just peels off of the metal backing. You then drill holes in the metal backing and mount the new pedal.

I'm still trying to work out how I can mount a wider piece of aluminum over the stock aluminum pedal. You can buy aluminum stock pieces at the home stores and it may be just malleable enough to bend to the contour of the stock pedal. But, I'm not sure if aluminum that malleable will stand up to use. Of course only about 1/2 inch of it would stick out past the left edge of the original pedal so it might not be an issue.

You can buy all grades of aluminum stock from suppliers like McMaster-Carr but the higher grades are not malleable at all and would not fit the contour of the stock pedal.

This sucks. I'm getting better at heel-toe but it is still difficult with such a narrow pedal. Just a little wider and it would be a so much easier.

This thread turned up in a search on how to replace the gas pedal, thanks for the pics, it was stupidly easy to swap out. Took me less than 5 minutes.

I realize this thread is a few years old, but I recently found an "OEM" option for the heel-toe drivers: the Nismo 380RS gas pedal has a small curve/extension at the bottom that makes it a bit easier to blip the throttle with the side of your foot.
