contemplating buying a used 2005 g35 MT

Hey all, I am new to the site and am seeking some advice. I currently own a '95 Maxima, which i have had for about 9 years and it has given me a lot of problems, i put a lot of money into it. I really want to upgrade and I am in love with the 2005 G35 coupe MT.

I recently looked at one yesterday and it looks perfect. It is a 2005 Coupe MT, sports package, rear spoiler, 19" rims....very very clean in and out and had 57K miles....he is selling it for 16,500. But I do have a couple of questions about basic maintence.

I have been doing a lot of research about this car. since i live in NJ, i know i would have to buy snow tires which is no problem. But the car already had 19" rims, so woudl i have to buy the 17" snow tires and wheels?? or just 19" snow tires?

also, I hear a lot about going through tires and brakes very quickly, and that the tires are 'noisy' ?? I dont know how true this is. For those of you who own a G35 coupe MT, is this true? I was also told if a headlight goes out, it must be replaced by the dealer and could be costly.

Bottom line is I love this car, i feel the price is great, and the car looks amazing and drives great, but im not mechanic. Is it just a money pit? or is it a legit well built car? Thank you very much for you input, I appreciate it. I have to let the guy know what im doing about the car soon. Thank you.

I just bought my 05 6mt (sedan) with 63k on it.

About the snow tires, it depends on what you want to do. Yes, you could run 19" snow tires but more than likely they will be way expensive. I would buy a set of 17's and the appropriate snow tires. Saves you from mounting and dismounting every year.

Brakes, I couldn't tell you as I haven't had the car long enough. Through my research I thought the brake problem was fixed in the 05's but could be mistaken. And loud tires, It would depend on the tires, alignment etc...

Overall this car is pretty well built and if maintained can last a long time. If you are happy with the car go for it.

Oh and for the headlight, you can do it yourself, you just have to take the inner fender lining out.

since I have 19' rims on it now...i would have to buy a set up 17' snow tires with 17' rims...which will run about 1k for the tires and another 5 hundred for the rims. Can I change the tires myself using a car jack?? Because i read somewhere about a tire pressure sensor that has to be deactivated or reactivated when changing the tire. Will i be able to jack the car myself, take off the 19' rims and put on the 17' snow tires and rims??

The headlights as stated earlier can easily be replaced. the bulb can be changed just by jacking the car up (so you have room to fit your hands between the tire and fender liner). I've never really heard of the bulbs going out often as an issue.

Search "oil consumption" and read up on that.make sure you don't get slammed and buy one of the few that had that issue.
