so as ive posted a few times in the forums i bought my car about 2 months ago. the night i got it i drove it around and it was fantastic. next morning i notice smoke coming out of my exhaust... extremely long story short blown piston ring, fml i have to replace the motor.

finally pull the trigger on an engine fromo canada with 6600 miles on it, basically brand new looks extremely clean, pretty happy with purchase. the day it comes in i bring it and my car over to my mechanics house who is a good family friend. before purchase we talked every day and went to check out a few motors locally but with no success. when i found this one i expressed my concerns because it only had a 30 day warranty.. he was on board. since the day i dropped everything off including a new exedy clutch cause i figured why not since it was gonna be out, kept trying to contact him with absolutely no luck. every 4 or 5 days he would finally respond and say... hes about to get to it tomorrow.. anywho 3 weeks later rolls around and finally i get so frustrated that this a hole has wasted almost my entire warranty on my engine i go with a truck to pick up my engine and car and drop it off at the only local shop capable of doing motor replacements.

dropped my car and motor off 8 days ago expressing my concerns that i was in a tight situation with my warranty ending in a week. they say they have a few jobs ahead of me but they will be able to finish the car by the last day of warranty coverage.... i dropped it off on a saturday and waited until wednesday to see if they had a chance to start on my car. they say they are gonna get it in first thing thursday morning, i say great. late thursday night i take a drive to the shop and see that the car is sitting outside right where i left it. of course i start to panic. friday morning (2nd to last day of my warranty) i call to see if they have any updates on my car.. they tell me that they are going to get it in early morning to start on it but assured me that it would not be finished by saturday the last day of my warranty. i keep telling myself fml fml fml. if something is indeed wrong with this motor i am completely f'd out of my money for the motor. fast forward now its sunday and i drive by again and my car is outside and impretty sure its in the same spot i left it a week ago. now im really losing my mind, not even for the fact that they havent started on it but wtf is wrong with everybody's communication now a days?

the first guy who was a family friend that wasted 3/4 of my warranty and would never answer his phone and now this shop who every day are supposed to start work on my car but never do. maybe its just me but if they couldnt get started on my car and ive called numerous times in a few days to get updates.. couldnt they just give me a quick call saying that they havent had a chance to start or that they are really backed up with other work. im really really irritated at this point and i just want my car

 

If you lived in SoCal I have a Nissan mechanic that could have your G togeather in one maybe two days. You need to find a qualified Nissan mechanic and get some type of time frame understanding for completion. As you might have figured out family friends aren't where you should take your G. Venting finished, hope you feel better!

Don't think so. I'm going to go there tomorrow mid day and ask wtf is going on. When I stopped by today it looked like the car was right where I left it. I hate doing these things cause I have a hulk temper and already pissed off beyond belief

 

That sucks dude.I hope you got It installed and the motor was good.I had the same problem with my 1st car(Honda accord)mechanics playing games and sht now that I'm on my 5th car with alot of experience with sht going wrong I have absoulty zero tolerance when dealing with mechanics and if they can't get to it the day they say they would I take it of there lot fck it even if I have to pay to get it towed.I'm good now that I DIY most of the things on my car.

 

I was supposed to get the car back Wednesday but my flywheel was completely shot so I got a new one. Then something snapped, not quite sure what it was but now they have everything bolted back up with the exception of the transmission, awaiting that part that snapped which won't be here till Tuesday at the earliest

 

Oh Dear! Oh Dear!..... Maybe i should not have clicked on this thread, i might have bad dreams, I'm presently in search of a place to take my car to for future service requirements.

Why is it always so darn hard to find a good shop ?

 

Well car is finally fixed I got it back last night. Feels so great to finally have it back

so far its pretty good. for everybody in the same boat as i was searching for engines the sedan engine does bolt up exactly the same no differences whatsoever. my only issue so far is the replaced my flywheel with a single mass flywheel and im not sure if im hearing "chatter" or what between 1k and about 3k of almost every gear. im really not sure but i am going to call them in a few days if i cant figure it out. before i bought the car the clutch pedal was pretty stiff and now its almost like theres no pedal there at all. not really sure if its supposed to feel like that as ive never had to replace a clutch on anything.

when i went to pick up my old motor to sell it to a local with a 350 i brought my stepfathers truck to get it. when i got there they rolled the engine out still on the engine stand and put the pallet on the truck so they could just lift the motor onto the truck. come to find out they never drained the coolant and as soon as they turned it on its side the **** poured everywhere all over the back of my stepfathers truck.(he was so pissed) so needless to say i had a few doubts about them midway through all this craziness. but anyways to my last point it clearly states on the reciept that they warranty their work for as long as i own the vehicle so i feel a little bit better, they were all around good guys to deal with
