Buy a 6MT?

hehe.. J/K. I assume you tried taking the key out, rotating it 180 degrees and putting it that way? My Tacoma ignition sometimes won't turn unless I do that.

You might want to try spraying a little white lithium grease on your key and putting it in and out of the ignition a few times. Don't put a ton on it though.. just enough to loosen up the moving parts inside there. This does wonders for the keyhole on doors in your house, car, etc.

^+1 that s all good advice. I had trouble with my apartment lock and I sprayed some WD40 on the key and in the hole. That helped so may want to try that. GL!

Sometimes you need to turn the wheel to the side while turning the ignition. Happened once to my G20 and once to my G35.

^+2 that is most likely the issue. Pull the steering wheel to your left and as your holding it turn the car on. Should start right up.

Yeah if you move the wheel after you turn it off it locks up, so just move it around a little bit when you try to start it

Out cars have what is called a shift lock solenoid. It is an electromechanical switch that stops the driver from shifting out of park.

Sometimes the shift lock solenoid goes bad and more frequently the control board for the shift lock solenoid goes bad. There is a diagnostic procedure in the service manual that will help you isolate the bad circuit. I was able to do it with a voltmeter. The control board cost me ~$70 (granted this was on a Murano but I am guessing things are similar) and it took 10 minutes to change out.

The good news is you have a shift lock override switch. By your gear selector there will be a little plastic cap. Pry it out and then stick something small down the hole - it will move a lever that disengages the shift lock and you will be able to shift into gear.

Want to make sure I understand - you popped that plastic cover off and stuck something (like a key) into that hole and pushed down (you should feel some spring tension as you depress) and you still can't shift out of park? You should be able to depress it a 1/4" or so.

When it happened to me I kept trying to push on the cap not knowing it was a cap and it wouldn't budge. Unless your shift mechanism is broken or the linkage to the transmission is jammed, I can't think of a reason why it would be stuck. If either of those conditions were the case, it would probably feel loose and sloppy vs just stuck in park.
