Unhappy Problem with Spoiler LEDs

Hi Gang,

I own a black 2004 Coupe with the aero package. I am on my second dealer installed spoiler because some of the LEDs burnt out on the first one. I was just informed today by a co-worker that a few of the LEDs were out now on the new one??? Is anyone else having this much trouble with the spoiler LEDs?

Look forward to seeing if this is a widespread issue or just my luck.

Thanks.

are these after-market spoilers???

you can check by seeing if you guys have underbody air diffusers... factory spoilers are only installed with underbody air diffusers, as a package...

you cna also check to see if you have a fourth brake light, the one in the rear deck in your back seat, if so, then your spoiler was installed after it came form the factory, and more chances of it being aftermarket...

Darn....

Having a spoiler installed on Thursday by the dealer....just the spoiler. Should I be concerned if I do not have the underbody air diffusers?

I've not heard of any other problems like yours.. not to say there were none.
Explain that you'd like a new spoiler if the problem persists. It could be the wiring.

Hey guys, what do the diffusers look like and exactly where are they installed? Can you tell the difference between the OEM and aftermarket spoiler by just looking at it on the outside?

without the underbody air diffusers, the car will not have the zero lift that it will have with them... pretty important, imho

Yes you can. I haven't seen my spoiler in over 3 weeks, but you can definitely tell a difference. I think (reads am not sure) that the OEM spoiler doesn't have 2 philips head screws going into the red plastic light bulb cover, the aftermarket spoilers do. Also, there are 2 undercuts on the after market spoilers that are configured differently than the OEM ones.

I know this because last January, when I was buying my car, the dealership tried to push an aftermarket spoiler and I refused because there was a visible difference and the warranty was only 12 months. When I walked the lot, I saw several after market spoilers installed and several OEM spoilers right beside them. The differences are visible.
