Best Radio Settings

The sound coming from my G sounds a bit static-y. Nothing too bad, but I feel it could sound better. What sound settings (bass, treble, balance, etc) do you guys use and think it's the best sounding? (if you have the stock bose radio)

I have mine on SSV Low, Bass +1, Treble +4 or +5. Balance I always leave in the middle but you could try moving it slightly forward...

Is this a serious question? Doesn't the answer have to do with what you listen to and how you want your unit to sound? I have mine set on neutral, no excessive lows or highs...

Well mine sounds static-y so I was curious as to what the majority uses so perhaps my radio gets better.

I've yet to see this mentioned in any radio related post on here, and it may be exclusive to my car (doubtful), but there's a trick to getting better sound from the Stock Bose system. I'll admit right up front I'm something of an audiophile. I can hear differences between mp3 bit rates speakers etc, so I'm particularly sensitive to changes in sound... While our Bose system isn't the best, it can sound decent with cd's or mp3's. The radio is another story... next to nothing can help our radio reception. Without a proper antenna on our car, it simply can't compete with traditional stem antennas or BMW style fin antennas... That doesn't mean you'll always hear static, but it means that the reception will always sound more muted or muffled compared to a stereo with a much better antenna. With all of that said... I have my settings set to Bass +5, Treble +5, Rear +1 and centered. Also, turn off Sound control... You do not want the car adjusting your settings. As for the trick... because of the Volume limiter our cars have a strange "switch" which only occurs at high volumes or with a few button presses.

If you set your settings to what I have above.. start your car and listen to a song for a minute or 2 to become acclimated to what it sounds like. Then, restart the song and click the menu button and adjust the Bass down 1 setting to 4, and then back up to 5. Switch to treble and do the same thing again. The switch between settings triggers the Stereo to allow the full sonic resolution to come through. Bass should be deeper and less muddy sounding. High's should be cleaner an much richer. Honestly, even my wife was easily able to hear the difference and she rarely listens to anything but the radio. These steps can be avoided by cranking the stereo up to 23 or 24 as I've heard the switch occur in real time on it's own, however at that volume it can be hard on your speakers depending what music style you're listening to. I stand by this 100% and have demonstrated it without problem time and time again. It's become part of my starting routine to just hit the button combinations as I start driving.

I Listen to Rap, R&B, Pop, and a little bit of Rock (on the radio), and in each and every situation, the improvement in quality has been very noticeable and quite dramatic.
