For '05 they dropped the Brembos and also sacrificed torque for more HP, both downgrades IMO. Also the '05 comes with new 19" wheels which I'm not too crazy about, but this is more of a personal preference thing, and many people go aftermarket on the rims anyway so it may not matter to you. There are some other minor differences with the new model like MP3 CD-R support and such but I think I covered the significant ones.

If you can find a sweet deal on an '04 with Brembos I would go for it. Resale value will also be better. That's what I did several weeks ago and I would do the same today.

Good luck on your search =)

automatic transmission coupes. for 05 basically its all positive.

new mp3 cd changer, larger diameter brakes, and aluminum on interior instead of plastic. 5AT coupes with performance tire and wheel package do not come with VLSD anymore also (found that one out the hard way). hp and torque / redline are the same.

for the 6mts, the brakes are worse, because they lose brembos. the 19" rims are standard on 6MT, and well in my opinion or ugly. they are forged , and the tires on them have allegedly low treadwear rating. hp is up to 298, torque down to 260. 7000 rpm redline instead of 6600.

the colors also changed, twilight blue is gone, and athens blue is in. carribean blue i think is gone too, replaced by lakeshore slate. some interior color combos are not allowed anymore, such as no black interior on ivory pearl cars.

also nav screen is .5" bigger. nav is also motorized close now, instead of push down close.

But what are the numbers in comparison? What's the skid pad rating and etc.? I'm curious if the drop in torque, raise hp and redline increased or decreased the overall performance. Plus, is the 2005 heavier or lighter?

Ditto on all of the above. The Brembos look soooo good behind the wheels IMO. I really dislike the look of wimpy stock breaks behind the wheels. The 19's are a bit overrated and not many people really like them either. Find an 04 that a dealer is really anxious to move and same some $. Not worth the extra money for less brakes, torque, and ugly wheels. Just my opinion

Any 05 coupe that has 19's means the car has the sport suspension, a very different driving animal when equipped. It brings stiffer shocks, springs and stiffer sway bars. I drove a 05 coupe with the suspension, should have been the standard suspension from the start IMO. But other's may find the ride too stiff.

wow.... I loved the 19" and so did most of the car mags.

this may be an age thing, being 46... I like the classier look over the racing look.

The seat controls are way better in the '05, option of telescoping steering is great also

Doesn't the 05's have aluminum trim? I also know the clock position was switched, and I also believe the steering wheel controls are now lit. I may be incorrect though.

I agree, telescoping wheel would have been nice, but I found that adjusting the clutch pedal made all the difference in the world, and moved me up enough to make the fit just about perfect.

Just came back from the International Auto Show her in San Diego and they had a 05 6mt or was in and 5AT I don't remember but, the interior changes I originally didn't like in pictures but I now prefer them over my 04 except for the ugly climate control and volume ***** but other than that the center console looks ten times better as well as the gauges. The center dashboard is changed with the clock integrated into the climate control display which I like less then the 04 but is still nice. The 19in rims I definatley look less impressive than the 18s despite the extra inch. Also in sitting in the seats they felt more firm almost like BMW seats but this might have been because the car has been to so many seats and they may have already been getting a little worn considering I only have about 5000 miles on my coupe and I have had it for a year now.

All in all I think you can't go wrong with either one, personally I love the brembos which is a big plus. I am happy with my 04. For those trying to decide between the two, my suggestion is to purchase the one that you believe is more car for the money.

Oh and on a side note, anyone tried to retrofit 05 gauges or any gauges at all into an 03/04? Is this possible or is the odometer integrated into the whole piece? If so I guess its up to individual gauge replacement overlays.
