Maybe the stealership is quoting an install of the super trick titanium rotors??? Was he wearing a mask when he gave you that quote?

If you're close to the border, you can have the package shipped to a packing holding company. This way you can take advantage of free shipping within Cont US. Not sure what company is out there for the west coast tho (assuming you're from Vancouver from your name...)
1) have it shipped just over the boarder in the US at a mail box. There are a bunch of US business who specialize in storing packages for us Canadians......Such as US Address here in Niagara Falls for the Toronto crowd

2) If they're going to ship via UPS then have them ship by air and not ground. You will pay more shipping charges for air but UPS brokers air packages for free or something really low (like $10), while they charge ridiculous brokerage fees for cross boarder ground packages

Doesn't seem like you read my post because I said pretty much the same thing....

Air shipping would be insanely expensive even if brokerage is included in the service. It would probably be more than ground + brokerage since it's based on cost of the goods and not weight. With a rotor being 15lb each, a quick shipping quote for air shows $400 or so on UPS for a 60lb package.....

So yea, whatever you do, either find a local vendor in Canada if you're far from the border or drive your *** over and pick up your own package

OMG!!! 3600Bucks! Hell no. My aftermarket pads cost no more then $150. Rotors i think i know a guy that gets them for about 95 each and thats plan/Sloted/drilled/drill and slotted. Never do anything at the dealers if its not under warranty.

I'll double check what is included but I'm pretty sure its just brakes and rotors. He wrote the details on a sheet which is in my car, i'll take a picture of it and upload it when I get home tonight.

Are these Brembo brakes or will these be the regular ones?

The guy was telling me how these brakes are used on Porsche Carrera GTs and are really high performance.. thats why their so expensive.

Edit: Also I am located in Canada (Vancouver), so I may not be able to get US prices which Im assuming are cheaper.
in Canada you could try a Uni-Select store, they carry replacements much cheaper than the stealership

bought these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-FRONT-2-RE...ht_3097wt_1373

and told them to throw in pads

total came to $421.99 without customs.. should be receiving them in 5-8 business days. My only concern is I ordered them over the phone and paid by credit card instead of through ebay. Also the guy I talked to could tell i was a noob on this kinda stuff so I hope I dont get ripped off.

Ive never ordered anything from the US, does anyone know how I will have to pay customs? will it be the UPS guy or will they leave a receipt that i would have to pay to the bank or something?

thanks

Yes, all 4. Apparently brokerage + custom fees should be about $100 on top.

Received the brakes yesterday and got them installed. Big thanks to the members that posted in this thread and especially red pearl99 for the link in the first page. I ordered those rotors and pads. They stop great and I saved literally thousands of dollars!

Thanks again everyone, heres a pic I took last night.

no.... they know EXACTLY what they're talking about, it's a dealership dude

this is why I absolutely LOVE car forums, because guys who don't know much about cars get educated and dealers(liars) get pwned !

looks great!
only downside on the drilled rotors i heard you will start seeing fine cracks in them eventually, not sure how true that is.

Not a fan of the slots at all myself
