My wife bought new a Black 2003 G35 Auto with the Premium, Aero, Nav, and Performance Tire & Wheel package. She just turned 22,237 miles.
It has been a great car. However the cd unit had an F0 error as the discs were stuck. Took the disc out and the error cleared and it works fine. Now the Nav is not working, the disc won't eject and the screen is gray. I've check all of the connections between both units. Everything is connected. When the DVD button is pushed you hear the unit moving but the disc doesn't come out. Also, about 10 seconds later the Nav screen flashes dark gray and then returns to light gray. (see vid.) Does anyone have any ideas on what has happened and how to fix it? https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/g35driv...388f3af57e.jpg Thanks, Tom |

The aero package was the spoiler and 4 'diffusers' which are really just 4 plastic pieces under the body before and after rear and front wheels. Maybe check if you have those but if you do someone has made off with your spoiler lol. I've seen base auto coupes without it but not a 6mt.
Anyway, nice to see there are some stock, unmolested low mileage cars left. Yours has even less mileage than mine, just rolled over 70k km over 17 years a few posts above. |
I got mine w 153k miles on the chassis. Engine was blown when the previous seller acquired it so he swapped in a 52k mile engine. I've put maybe 2 or 3k miles on it since March.

how many miles do you guys have on your coupes?
My 2003 G35 coupe has 83000 miles. Never has seen salt and rarely gets driven in rain! Gets stored from the first time they spread salt on roads till it rains twice after the last time they spread salt! You can still eat off the engine compartment! I am the second owner.

04 with 76k, starting to burn off oil like crazy, but still a daily driver!

I just bought a 2007 Q35x with 77k miles on it.
Super nice car for the age. It has a lot of power and handles great. Any suggestions on what I need to look out for to keep it in top notch shape? |
132000, 2006 G35 Coupe Always garaged. Starting to fall apart: trunk release won't work, rear differential humming, hard shifting, dash cracking all over, trunk clear coat bubbling, driver's seat coming apart, steering wheel peeling. But I love the car. Sorry it may be time to say bye bye.

Original owner here as well ('04 6MT Coupe), but unfortunately mine has 137,000 miles due to it being my DD in the early years of ownership. |

Checking in to this forum and holding on at 209,250 miles. Still looking good, but no longer gonna be a garage queen--need to make room for a new ride.

2003 132,000 Manual coupe . At this age, I feel like it is one of those deciding moment for many of us, keep it and refresh it all, use it until dies, sell it off as the 3 choices.
I decided to get one and refresh it. Just go through it, new shocks, springs, clutch, wheels, hoses, fix dents, replace steering wrap, etc. Overall I think if these haven't been abused, still have a good chunk of life left in them. They seem to still look modern, drive comfortably, and still enough grunt to enjoy driving. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/g35driv...73a810c191.jpg |

Just picked up my third one after letting my last one go 6 years ago.found myself a black 04 Coupe Premium package with 78k miles.
|
Took my ride for the annual state inspection and some costly repairs are needed in order to pass. :crying:
I knew this day would come and I am preparing to part with my ride after 19 years and 209,470 miles. |
Out of curiosity, what state, and what deficiencies?
|
@cleric670 Happy to answer your Qs:
State: PA Primary deficiency: -Front steering knuckle assembly was found cracked; considering this is the original part after 19 years and 200k+ miles, I suppose wear and tear finally caught up? Secondary deficiency: -Front brakes and rotors |

Hello,
]My 2003 Sedan manual 6 speed just died on the way home right at 200K. They repair shop said the timing system went out. I was at a red light idling and it just died. When it turns over it just spins like just the starter is turning. They told me it would be cheaper to replace the motor. What would you guys do? Thanks in advanced. |

If the rest of the car is rust free and in good shape just replace the motor. Plenty around for reasonable prices. How is the clutch and gearbox?
While the engine is out may as well replace the clutch at least. |
I will do some research on that as well. I know there are plenty of posts on that subject. Guess they have bolt on kits available.
|
Yes it's rust free, been mostly garage kept. I found a few motors for around $2K with under 80K miles that sound promising. Clutch was still very strong but I will replace while the engine is out. Should I even have them look at the current motor for repairs. They told me it would cost more than to replace it.
Thanks for you help! |
Well you just answered your own question.
At $2K for a motor with 80K is a good deal. Replacement will be more straight forward than a complete timing chain, which may also be an engine out service. |

Replacement will be more straight forward than a complete timing chain, which may also be an engine out service. it will probably be $1-2k to have a shop redo your timing with parts these days though. if these magical 80k mile engines are the JDM depot ones … YMMV … they don’t actually verify mileage from overseas. We are just trusting them. That said - it’s a lot cheaper and faster than a total rebuild. If it’s just stock power I’d swap and move forward. Any boost - Total rebuild. |
I guess I did.. LOL. Thanks for you quick response!!
|
Thanks for you quick response. Yeah you really never know what you gonna get I guess... $2K for engine maybe $1500 to $2 to install. so say 4K guess i have to decide if its worth that to me. I sure do love driving it!!! :)
Thanks!!!! |

Thanks!!!! In today's market $4k gets you a 10 year old Civic or Corolla. Prices of used cars have gone completely unreasonable. |

Swap it with another used DE, whether you go with a car-part or a JDM used is up to you, I've had good and bad luck with both.
The shop will normally give you a short warranty on the motor usually so it's not like you're assuming any risk by paying the shop to do the work. Just make sure they are doing a compression test and have the results printed on the paperwork. |

197k and still going strong
