What the hell did you do to that tire, that's really messed up. You should take it to the place you got them, I'm sure they'll give you a new one for free. No tire is supposed to do that, unless it's Firestones on an Explorer.

Leaky valve stem? It happened to me not too long ago and the tire looked just the same.

I have those same tires. I would be curious to know what caused that. Please keep us updated.

I had a 285 30 18 Potenza SO3 that did the same thing on an NSX about 3 years ago. The only thing bad about Potenza tires is that you can hardly notice them being low on air PSI. This is due to the strong side wall. If the SO3, as well as any tire, gets low on air PSI it will begin to come apart on the inside. You will more than likely will find a small hole some where in the tire. It then got low enough on air PSI and began destroy the side wall. Did you see any melted rubber or small tire bits on the inside of the tire?

i had potenzas on my sc300 b4 and i must've drove it flat for like 2 days and i didn't notice. i even went on the fwy...maybe it was low on air, but when it got flat, the tireplace took it out and found it starting to rip where that bridgestone blew up. tirepressure monitor would've saved me some $$.

I checked the tire pressue prior to me driving and only traveled 60 miles. The tire blew while I was going about 76 miles per hour. I heard the pop and then my rear end fish tailed and VDC came on. This was the beginning of an accident. Another car hit me and drove off the freeway into a tree.

To the folks who encountered this problem in the past, did the tire manufacturer replace the tire? What happens if it causes an accident? Who is at fault? This situation was very dangerous. Someone got hurt.

riotgear, you can take the tire back to the dealer and file a complaint. You can also contact Bridgestone/Firestone corporate customer service. Get the DOT number from it. Take mucho pictures.Your insurance may also want to look at it.

Looking at the tread, the tire looks fairly new. Has it been repaired, scrubbed the curb or low on air before? If none of the above and no obvious external damage, the tire company will want to look at it.

I still think (as my original post, that was you that got into the accident, right?)
your tire was under inflated. Under inflated tire with negative camber on the rear
on a RWD car can be catastrophic failure as yours. It's hard to tell if the tires are
low on air when there is a lot of neg camber and using stiff sidewalls such as S03's
on such low profile size.

btw, Bridgestone bought Firestone back in the days.

Riotgear,
I'm glad you weren't going any faster in your G.
That kind of catastrophic failure is what I think about when I hear of much high speeds that some attempt.

Well, at least you're ok.........that's what really matters. You could try bringing it back to the company that sold you the tires and at their discretion could send it back for a warranty claim.
