LOL I have seen it used for different tuning devices for FI applications. I think one person turned it into an IPOD dock. I persoanlly dont use it either but would like to somehow...

I've transformed my cigarette lighter into a USB plug, and just keep relevant miscellaneous items in the actual tray. By "relevant", I mean things like the USB Flashdrive's cap/cover, a small micro cloth for the touch screen (and other things I suppose), and stuff like that.
Can you close the door with it in?
I'd like a permanent plug with dual usb that allows me to close the ashtray door when not in use.

That really wouldn't be that hard to do. Any custom car audio shop could probably do it within a couple hours, if you couldn't on your own.

It's kind of a ghetto permanent fixture, but I don't think it's ugly by any means. If, for some reason, the thing you're plugging in is too long then of course the tray wont' close, but for me, my USB Flashdrive full of music can sit in the plug and be short enough to close the tray. It's probably 1.5 inches long. I can easily grab a picture for you later; maybe even a quick video to explain it a little.

No, don't want a shop to do it. And I don't want to figure it out on my own. I'd rather find a clean, successful way of doing it and copying.
All the dual USB plugs I've found are too tall and won't allow the tray to close.
