Possible Wheel Bearing Diagnosis?

Possible Wheel Bearing Diagnosis?
I've been reading the forums about worn out wheel bearing symptoms and feel that my G might need a wheel bearing replaced. I just wanted to have more of a confirmation from my fellow G35drivers on here. I believe its a wheel bearing issue because I generally hear the classic humming noise above 30+mph and becomes louder as I hit 60mph. The sound does not really change turning left and right. Also, my steering feels looser than usual and has much more play. My steering moves much more than when I got it when it hits bumps and potholes. I feel as if the stiffness my G35 coupe once had is loosening up. I am planning on changing the front left wheel bearing first as I had a lug nut break off the hub (never buy cheap lug nuts from ebay). Its a few dollars more to replace the whole bearing/hub assembly so I figured why not try that first. What are your thoughts? And how difficult is it to change the bearing? My car is an 04 5AT coupe with 49k miles. Thanks!

I have changed a wheel bearing before on my Volvo C70 but I will probably just let a shop do it as I will have to do alignment after too. I was quoted for 127.50 for one side, which is a pretty good deal. Should I change both front bearings at this time? I was going to buy the Timken Hub assemblies. I just need to make sure which bearing is actually worn out. So I should jack the car up on each wheel and check for wheel play? Is this test pretty specific for a wheel bearing issue? Thanks.

I believe the front wheel bearings ONLY come along with the hub assembly in our cars, I changed mine last year and don't remember seeing an option to replace the bearing alone. That being said, it's a pretty easy job. Nuts and bolts and brake pins. You might have to go beast-mode on the hub assembly nuts though.
