Set Engine to Factory Specifications

As the title says. I was at the Infinity dealer the other day and they offered this service on the wall for 89.95. Is this something that actully needs to be done? If so starting at what kind of mileage. I am assume this consists of adjusting the valvetrain. Is this correct?

Any details on what the service was? Just stating there was a service for 89.95 leaves a whole lot of room for interpretation/guessing.

I just called and its just a way to con someone out of their money. They reset the base timing and idle to factory spec. I do all my own service but when I was picking up a part this caught my attention = )

There's nothing magical they're going to do for you for $90 on your motor that you can't do yourself for free and isn't typical maintenance(oil, etc). If there was, it would be more invasive, such as taking off the valve-covers and adjusting lifters, etc. in which case they'd be more likely to charge you about $800 for the service.

They probably just reset the ECU, and you can do that yourself by simply following the ECU factory reset procedure which just involves a series of presses on the gas pedal and turns of the ignition key. You shouldn't need to do that though, since that will just cause the vehicle to relearn your driving tenancies... which it does anyways on its own over time.

The stealerships have figured out just one more way to screw their customers. It takes no more than 2 minutes to reset the OE paramiters in the ECU kinda like dialing a number on your cel....
