any roadtests on '05 Coupe 6MT's?
any roadtests on '05 Coupe 6MT's?
with these starting to hit the dealers now, i'm surprised that i haven't been able to find any road tests in any of the mags (online or otherwise)... anybody seen a real roadtest yet?
i searched C&D, MT and AW as well as the normal yahoo/google searches for misc sources... i haven't found anything so far other than "new pricing announced" or "rumored to have 20 additional hp"... i want to see some braking and acceleration numbers as well as impressions of the new interior, refinement, etc...

Are base 5AT coupes with 17" proven to be faster than those with the Perf. Tire and Wheel Package 18"?
NOthing out yet, but I did see the M45 test in C&D Feb 05 and they tested it w/0-60 = 5.6 and 1/4 = 14.2. At 335 HP and 4006lb curb weight the power to weight ratio is very close to the G at 298HP and 3600lb (1:12 compared to 1:12.08 respectively). According to those numbers I think it would produce very similar times as the M45. That being said, MT tested the G35 and I think I remember that they got it to hit 60 in 5.6 but they tend to be a little faster than C&D who I think got a 5.8 as their fastest time on the previous G. Pure speculation, but I think the 05 will be a few tenths faster. Then again maybe I am just foolishly optomistic! My is do to arrive in 3 weeks, Can't wait!

Overall, tests seem to average about 5.7-5.8 for an '03-04 6MT coupe.

I would think since the ECU is updated a little bit and MM seems to better that the 5AT is a lil' quicker, so I would think the 6MT would be as well although the torque drop may be working against it so it's probably almost the same as the last 6MT.
How did the 5AT compare in the previous two years to the manual?

Hey guys, I've never posted before, but here's my first. Anyway, looking at it from Infiniti/Nissan's perspective, why would they spend money to redeisgn the engine if it only made the car slower? Any sort of change on their part would cost more money, than if they just left it alone. I don't see how they could justify doing more design and changing manufacturing hardware for the engine changes if it didn't make the car better in some way. If the changes made the 2005's slower, then whichever project manager led the updates would surely be fired, since I'm sure a decent amount of money was spent on the changes. Hopefully we'll hear something from the major magazines within the next few months, but I think it would be a reasonable assumption that the 2005's performance is at least marginally better than the 2003/2004's.
