After not being able to stand the rasp anymore I ended up purchasing a used Fuji exhaust with Y-pipe and currently selling my Stillen as it was too loud for my taste anyways. I have absolutely zero rasp now with the Berk’s and Fuji exhaust and Y-Pipe system. I can’t believe how quite the Fuji is…I swear it’s quieter than stock in all but WOT (even with the HFC's). I think it was a good move as I’m getting too old for anything louder than stock these days. Plus the wife-to-be doesn’t mind riding in the car anymore

Post up a video ! So it is the combination of the Stillen Exhaust and the Berks that causes the rasp.

I actually was planning on making another trip to Stillen this month to have them replace my pulleys with their lightweight ones as my belts need replaced anyways. While I’m there I may do another run or two on the dyno to compare the Stillen with the Fuji and the addition of the lightweight pulleys. I’ll take a video of those dyno runs which would be a perfect one-to-one comparison of the two exhausts. I don’t think putting a camera behind the car and doing a few revs would be an accurate comparison because even the Stillen sounded good with no rasp if I revved it just right.

To answer your question, yes it was the Berk's paired to the Stillen that caused the rasp. Note the Stillen sounded great and had no rasp with the OEM cats. Only when I installed the Berk's did it start to rasp like crazy.

Glad you got it all figured out!

I will have to get on a y-pipe soon to see if I can get rid of my rasp.

i have stock intake and no spacer so that might be the difference. but the car sounds stock..i was a little disappointed. i thought the hfc would add more of a growl but all it did was make the wable sound slightly louder.

dont know what to tell you, check for leaks. my rasp went away when i switched to oem gaskets from chinese aftermarket gaskets. but i also have a 03..if you have a rev up engine, that might be it too. i think the rev up engines have slightly more aggressive cam profiles as well as the valve timing so that might contribute to it...

What setup do you have that's causing the rasp? I had the Stillen TD with Berk HFC's and it was horrible. I recently swapped the Stillen for a Fuji with Y-Pipe and it completely eliminated the rasp but also any pronounced exhaust note with the Fuji being so quiet.

What exhaust and y-pipe are you running with them? Also, do you have headers? How is the quality compared to the Berk's? The Berks seem to be the only HFC that utilizes the stock mounting points which was another reason I went with them. Do you have any rattles or fitment issues with the FI HFCs?

I don't have a y-pipe, i'm running duals w/an x-pipe. yes, I have headers. Zero issues w/the FI cats. berks' use of the OEM mounting points is useless, considering how much lighter hfc's are compared to OEM. Fast Intentions build quality is top notch.

Do the FI HFC's have any hiss or rasp at all? My Berk's rasped liked crazy with the Stillen TD and now instead of rasping they hiss with my Fuji. Almost sounds like an exhaust leak but there is not as it was checked multiple times.

I just can't win here. I may just say the heck with the Berk's and get ART pipes with the XYZ pipe with cat attachment to fulfill my needs of having cats. Anyone have this setup? Worried that it may not pass CA emissions and I don't want the hassle of swapping them out every 2 years.
