I just can't win here. I may just say the heck with the Berk's and get ART pipes with the XYZ pipe with cat attachment to fulfill my needs of having cats. Anyone have this setup? Worried that it may not pass CA emissions and I don't want the hassle of swapping them out every 2 years.
nah, they sound great.

i've passed CA smog w/my Fast Intentions cats

here are some recent clips...

if u just get a motordyne xyz with the resonator attachment now and replace your current y pipe that will most likely get rid of the hiss sound..but the hiss sound is notorious after the rev comes down once you do exhaust mods on these cars..The berks flow better than the FI ones which is the difference..id guess the cell count is diff in the two

If the hiss has to do with the increased flow than I don't understand why only the HFC's do it and not test or ART pipes? When I had my Stillen Dual setup there was no hiss (just horrible rasp)...only after I put on the Fuji did it start to hiss. So I went from a horrible rasp to a pronounced hiss...I can't win here.

the flow between a 200-cell vs a 300-cell will be marginal at best. plus doesn't look like many 200-cell HFCs last very long on our cars, most people don't realize they've gone bad until they fail sniffer.

^^not everyone has sniffer and just have obd scan..that being said i went thru 2 sets of berk high flow cats on my z because they failed. But i was putting power to them so idk, might be fine on a n/a car. I ended up going with test pipes and not looking back. still havent decided what im gonna run on the G.

my guess on the hiss is because you have more back pressure now with the fuji exhaust.

Just thought I'd revive this thread for a question instead of starting a new one...

I just installed Kinetix HFCs on my car, along with a 350Z HR Y pipe - all connected to a '05 sedan midpipe and stock '04 muffler. At first, I had an issue with the heat shield on the drivers side, but after that was resolved I can hear a significant amount of rasp. Should this combo introduce rasp? After I had installed the HFCs, I took it for a quick ride with the DE Y pipe and didn't notice it quite as much.

Also, is it possible for gaskets to introduce rasp into the system? Sounds about like a jelly bean vibrating in the exhaust pipes and it's driving me nuts. Should the HR Y pipe make any difference in the rasp over the DE? Maybe it's the 2.5" outlet of the HFCs to the ~2.2" inlets to the HR or (not entirely sure on the OEM pipe sizes) 2.5" exit from the Y to the inlet of the 05 sedan middy. Anyone know the ID of the tubing on an 05 midpipe? And advice appreciated!
