11mpg?? Damn...but I feel yer pain.

I got an '05 Coupe and the mpg is horrendus. My NAV shows 14.1 mpg. I hope it gets better as the car breaks in...but 14mpg??? I guess it just likes gas....

93 unfortunatley is like liquid nitrogen.....consumed instantly. You might want to try just a tad lower, say 90 or 91?

Welcome aboard Ebuy929,

As you probably know, gas mileage isn't the G's strongest suit but 11 mpg's is awful. Is the g new? Do you drive hard?
I suggest driving moderately for a tank and do an accurate check of your mileage to see what that renders, then talk to the techs at your Nissan dealer again.
If the mileage is that bad, they should be able to reconfigure you ECU.

P.S. I edited your post for language

because he's YELLING at you WRAH! i doubt there is anything wrong with the ecu (unless this car was modded and then brought back to stock). most likely it's your driving style. you can also try the lower octane gas as someone suggested above. you can even mix octanes to get the blend you want (side note, i wouldn't suggest the lowest octane gas for extended periods of time ... i could be wrong, but i feel it may increase scoring in the engine).

I have 4800mi on my '04 and I get 15mpg if I drive moderately. Sadly my area only has 93 octane so I won't know anytime soon how it reacts to lower octane gas.

here in california, the highest octane rating available is 91. from day one to now, i've always gotten about 20 mpg. i got around 18 mpg during the break-in period but have now always gotten from 20-24 mpg. i now have about 22k miles on the car and tried driving both conservatively and aggressively....always came out the same.

ebuy, did you do all city driving? did you do a lot of stop and go? did you go above 3500 rpm in the gears? all of these impact your gas mileage (as i'm sure you know).i know infiniti claims you'll get 18-19, but unless you're perfect you're probably shooting for 15-17.

ARH_twilightblue, you know you can blend octanes to get the level you want, right? unless you meant your area ONLY has 93 ... which would scare the crap out of me. is your morning commute with all exotics or something?

I have about 1600 on my car, so I just finished the break in period. On moderate driving, shifting between 3-4k rpm, I get about 17-18 on 60-70% city. On 90% highway, I got 22.xx. My highway speed range between 80-90. So I think 22 is not too bad. Probably get alot more if I was driving 65 mph. I'm putting 91 octane in the car.

Hey Ebuy929,
just do a search for fuel consumption or gas mileage etc and you'll have lots of feedback as a reference point. Unless you are extremely heavy footed you definitely have something wrong with your car as it seems to be getting around 60-65% of what most folks achieve.

Just to correct, the EPA makes claims about fuel efficiency, not Infiniti. In any case, I get 19-20 mpg regularly with mostly highway driving. Short trips are also mileage killers.
