rollback
after driving the rx-8 and wrx sti, i get the feeling those cars don't roll back on hills. i'm new to manuals and am kind of scared of rolling back at lights and stuff. i know to use the handbrake to prevent rolling (or heel-toe), but does something in this car prevent it from rolling?
Joey-
I don't know what you're driving but unless you're using the foot brake or riding the clutch the G35 6 speed will roll back on hills. If yours is a standard and doesn't you better have it looked at right away. Were the rx-8 and wrx manuals?

i haven't driven the 6mt g35c yet. the other cars were manuals. my friend was telling me the wrx sti has something that prevents rolling (backwards only) when the engine is disengaged. i felt the same kind of thing on the rx-8. so i was asking if the vlsd or somethign else in the g35 inhibits rolling.

Umm...sorry but all cars roll back on hills, if they are in nuetral (stopped on a hill) that is. The only way to prevent this is to:
1. Keep it in first gear and play the clutch and gas at the same time to keep it in one position
2. Keep it neutral with the brakes pressed and know how to make a QUICK and smooth transition to roll forward without rolling back (takes some time to master)
3. Use the ebrake as you mentioned where you keep the ebrake depressed and release the clutch slowly while giveing gas and slowly releasing the ebrake.
You may be right about the anti roll back feature on some other cars like the WRX. I do know there are some manufacturers using it. I did not think the RX8 had that though and the G certianly does not.
The vlsd is the viscous limited slip differential which is something completely different, acting to transfer power to both rear drive wheels to limit wheel spin when acclerating hard.
Cheers
