concerns on 2005 g35

I'm looking at purchasing a 2005 g35 with 60,000 miles, its an automatic. Are there specific problem or things to look out for on this year? (I tried to search but could find specifics) Thanks

Nothing I know of specifically for that year. Just the typical G problems.. like the window motor going out and O/C but that is usually for 6MTs. So you should be in the clear.

I just purchased a 2005 coupe last year and I would say, look for clicking when taking off or going into reverse, mine had that loud rumble when slowing down (about 10-15mph) which was the tires needing replaced. Clicking can be fixed on your own to as there are DIY's if you search for it. Other than that, I picked this year because it's suppose to the, "less faulted" year and maybe that was based on recalls but I'd say it was a good purchase!

Only other thing mine had was terrible curb rash which i haggled the person selling cuz of it. Plus, I knew about the loud rumble when slowing down being the tires being worn down so I got the guy down for that too.

By the way, my car had 75000km (46000miles) just to give you a reference as to where mine was at when the clicking started happening.

i did notice a slight "popping" noise when the engine was warm. i think its the exhaust though? the clicking was just tire wear then?

Not sure of the popping noise but the clicking is from the rear axles. This is a video of the click you would hear.

By the way, this isn't just a 2005 specific issue but a common issue none the less.

I just purchased a 2005 5AT coupe myself. I had been told that the breaks were a bit of an issue, but that was probably just probably just sellers trying to get me to view their car instead of the 05. Regardless of problems, the one I purchased came with new DBA rotors and Hawk pads.

Loving it so far!

Click is just one of those things that you may end up hearing or you won't. Sorry, didn't mean to scare ya about it. That's just what mine has that is a pretty easy fix. If you don't hear it then don't worry about it. I just posted my first thread and have pics of my car in there. Check it out when you get the chance. It should be near the top as i just posted it now.

When you buy a car make sure to change all of the fluids and filters. When I got my car ('05 g35x with 96k) I had an axle click and a really hard shifting transmission into reverse. I had all the fluids changed and the axle click went away and the transmission gets smoother every time I drive it even 3,000 miles later.

The one I'm looking at is priced 14900 firm. Relatively new tires and the brakes and rotors looked good. Has most service records and mostly done at a local Infiniti dealer. Car is clean, the exterior scratches look like they can be buffed out. Sound like a good deal? Thanks

I am the original owner of my 05. The Axel click can best be heard at low speed take offs next to a wall with your windows down. If you are buying it from a dealer, they had a tsb on it and it should be fixed for free under warrenty. If anything, have the dealer check. There are DIYs on it and can it can be fixed pretty easily.

I have had no window issues, no squeaks or rattle issues or other issues the 03-04 series had. This is just my opinion and my own experiences. Good luck with yours!

I paid about $16k CAN last year for mine that had 75000km (46000miles) so $14,900 sounds about right. I did haggle the private sale down from $18000 so I think I got pretty lucky.

I picked up my '05 in May 2010 with 42,000 Miles on it. It currently has 57,000 miles on it and outside of basic maintenance hasn't had any issues. My cup holder lid is messed up, but that's the extent of my problems. No clicking problems, no window problems, no stereo problems, nothing thus far. I paid $18,995 when I picked it up. It's got all the options minus Nav. for price comparison sake.
