would you buy an 04??

Been in the market for a couple cars and im lookin at this g35

http://santabarbara.craigslist.org/cto/2813423968.html

ive searched and read about the rev up on the 05 and 06 models. but is it really that much better or would an 04 g35 be good. what would i really be missing out by gettin at 04 instead of an 05 or 06.

They both have their benefits and drawbacks. As far as 6mts go 04s don't have the high rev motor. This can be good or bad depending on how you look at it. Good if you consider that you won't have to deal with the oil consumption issues that the 05+ MT models typically have. Bad if you consider the car isn't quite as peppy and most would say that the cars don't respond as well to mods or rev as freely.

The only other major difference (and it's huge!) are the brakes. I like the look of the Brembos but most would say that the improvements made to 05+ coupes flat out outclass the Brembo from 03/04.

Oh yeah, interior... 05+s have a lot of interior upgrades too. I think the price that the person is asking is quite fair. If it is as clean as it looks it seems like it would be a good deal. Best way to get a feel is to just drive both. You will never get a feel for them unless you do this. People can try to persuade you either way, but I think you should just go for some testing yourself.

I can tell you that I have an 04 and I am quite happy with her. Whichever way you go, it's still the same car so it won't be that different.

This coupe looks good for the price and mileage! Car cover is a great idea, bra not so... Only thing I wouldn't like is the tan interior with gray exterior....Gary

Yeah that price is pretty fair. I bought and 03 with 87k miles and haven't had an ounce of problems. Great cars

It's an eight year old car, with eighty thousand miles, YIKES! You need to have a trusted mechanic inspect it and check for service records. This cars weren't cheap cars originally and some people don't do the expensive maintenance on them. Huge repair risk.

Always bring it to do a PPI if the car has higher milage.. I didn't but brought it to my mech and he had all records of maintenance on hand.. so I wasn't too worried. If it is just for a DD and you're not planning to track it or anything, the difference won't be too big with or without the rev up. Just the brakes might be a bit of a hassle.. heard the 03 and 04s chew up brakes for breakfast.

There wasn't an "S" designation until '07.
