Control arm problem?
Control arm problem?
When i go over a bump in the road or a pothole or anything, my front right wheel clunks. When i got a mechanic to look at it, he said its the ball joint but they cant be replaced individually, he has to replace the whole control arm. Is this true? Or can i just replace the ball joint? Will that fix the clunking?
Also when i brake, the front wheel kinda vibrates quickly and if your watching from the outside, It will move forward a little. I already checked my bushings and everything
Thanks!

I think I have the same problem. I've read in several forums that it is possible to change the ball joint, with a press. I took it to a mechanic and he couldn't figure out where the clicking was coming from (I know right). Mine doesn't vibrate really, just when putting the car on drive or reverse I can hear the click. I ended up changing the brake kit. If someone knows a good shop/mechanic that can help me with this issue in LA area, I would appreciate it.
Could be the end links (which is happening to my CRV) or the control arm (which is happening to this car). To check the ball joint, jack up your car and check the wheel for play. If it moves left to right when holding it at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions, you need a new ball joint.
I just ordered a new control arm from RockAuto for $135 which includes the ball joint. Don't forget to get a wheel alignment afterward.
