Shocked getting out of car

Can't find any other posts on this...Every time I get out of my car and go to shut the door I get an electric shock. I have gotten to the point I need to nudge it with my pants or something because it's starting to get to the point it hurts.

Possible relevant info:
Southern CA - O.C. area
Lights stay on for like 2 min after I lock the doors with auto mode on for light setting
Fully loaded w/ navi

Any tips would be really appreciated!

Yep happens to me too every time I get out of the car, and depending on the pants I'm wearing I'll get shocked more or less. And it only ever happens when I'm in my G35, I don't get shocked in any other car. Funny thing is that the gf never gets shocked when she gets out of my car. My guess is that we slide around in these leather seats so much that we build up static electricity.

Happens in my moms lexus rx 350 and the g35...didn't happen in my evo, accord, or jetta. Is there a grounding kit or something to absorb the static build up maybe?

I have found a helpful solution though. If you don't want to get shocked every time you get out of your car this is what you do. When you open the door to get out of the car, place your left hand on the roof of your car, and keep it there as you step out. Keep in mind that you must first place your hand on top of your car before you set your foot outside and leave your hand there as you are stepping out. Now when you close your door you wont get shocked anymore. Works everytime

Yea I have tried all of these tips:
http://www.wikihow.com/Get-out-of-a-...ic-Electricity

Nothing really seems to work for me 100% of the time.

Almost tempted to rig up something like this to act as a solid ground for my car

I've become paranoid about getting shocked every time I get out of my car now, I feel like its going to happen every time I close my car. Even when I drive other cars I feel like I'm going to get shocked as I get out. Stupid G!

That Mizter anti-static strap looks like it will work, but it would look too weird dangling from my car I wouldn't put it on lol.

I wonder how many other G drivers experience this shock, because this has never happened to me in any car but only in my G35.

Same here, every time I drive it now I am freaked out about getting in and out of it lol

The Mizter thing just needs to be grounded to any metal of the body, So I was thinking towards the middle of the body would be an ok place. Not visible from outside unless you are far away or look under the car. Might drill a little hole into the sub-frame sometime and give it a shot if no one has any other ideas lol.

Started happening to be recently too. In socal too. Weird socal static air? lol

It was worse when I had the dodge charger with cloth seats, that built up static every time i sat in the car longer than couple minutes.

My other car / DD 2.8l vr6 jetta has cloth seats and I never get static build up from it at all. Maybe because I have HID ballast's or something? Some how absorbs the build-up or something?

I am thinking it might have something to do with the lights staying on after I shut off the car, but there should be some way to ground that so it is not transmitting to the passengers. It can actually cause some health problems for people with pacemakers and such if they get too much electricity running through them. There are no recalls or anything that I haven't heard about for this problem is there?

It doesn't happen often enough in the g35 though, the charger i knew for a fact that if i touched the door or even another person after getting out that i would be getting a shock.

I would try the SxExCx grounding kit before any of the anti-static straps. At least you would get some performance gain out of trying a solution.

This happens to me everytime I wear my light weight running shoes. I used to touch metal doors with my elbow first so the shock will weaken..When I go to the gym I even get shocked on the treadmills n weight bars. It gets irritating after a while so I changed my shoes n now no more getting shocked..it's the material the shoes is made of causing all this

Same here with the g... I was driving around a magnum for the past few days and no problems. And today with the g I get zapped.

I've got the grounding kit and it didn't stop. Also ill try Curtis.g ODF the auto lights and see if that changes anything
About the shoes. I wear diff shoes to work and outside every trip I take so it couldn't be that
