Angry You're not gonna believe my story!!

Here's a good one..

So I'm driving home from Maryland to NJ and I have to stop for gas on the turnpike just before exit 7A (I live at 9). I had a few things in the passenger seat: my pillow, mp3 player, and the Band of Brothers DVD set.. Anyway, I pull up to the pump and lower the passenger side window to tell the dude to fill it up with plus and hand him my credit card. Ok so far. First, he fumbles with the gas door and can't figure out how to open it (maybe we should put labels that say 'push to open' so we don't get their grimy hands all over our G's) and so he still can't get it open. Meanwhile, pump in hand, he accidentally presses the lever (my window is still down) and gas squirts inside my car and gets allll over the seat, door, pillow, mp3 player, dvd set...EVERYTHING. My car reaks of gas and so does all my stuff.

I go into the rest stop to get the manager and show him my car and he obviously agrees with me. So I tell him the whole story and I asked him, "so who should I mail the bill to for a complete detailing of my car?" Thankfully he let me come inside and we filled out a customer complaint form with what happened and all. He told me to go get the car cleaned up, bring him back the receipt, and he'll give me cash back.

I'm actually kind of happy this happened..even though my car and my stuff stinks...cause my G was getting a little too dirty for my liking and its been too cold to wash it. But, I'm off to Auto Image right now for the Corporate Package for about $180. Thanks Sunoco, I love you.

That reminds me to avoid ever getting gas in NJ. What a joke that you can't self serve there.

I would have been livid and would have blown a gasket right there, and I'm the most laid-back guy around. I don't know if you could get the gas smell out for a long time since the gas would soak into the seats, etc. I would want them to pay for NEW seats, etc.!

I just got back from Auto Image with an estimate of $265 for the interior cleaning. The price mainly reflects the labor required to remove the seats and shampoo the whole darn thing. He said that gas is gonna be really difficult to get out so hopefully this works. I'm gonna call up the station now and see how I can get my money for this, hopefully it'll all work out ok.

...and you should believe it, every bit of it cause sadly its true.

Thank whomever you believe in, god, buddah, satan, etc. that leaded gas isnt used anymore. Otherwise, your dvds would be toast and probably the seat cushion wouldve melted too...

Damn that really does suck, I would've been sooooooooo pissed, I couldn't believe it when I first heard that everywhere in NJ they have full serve, and no self serve gas stations, whats the point of that?? I wouldn't want a bum like that touching my car. Hope it gets cleaned out and everything works for ya

Haha thanks mitch.. NJ gas definintely is cheaper, probably cause its refined right down the turnpike at around exit 13/14..doesn't have far to travel to get to us. Its even about $0.10 cheaper a gallon than states with self serve - doens't make much sense though since they factor in wages of attendants into the price and no other state but us (and OREGON) has full serve. So it's not just jersey if you didnt know, oregon is the only other state with full serve. Thankfully when i'm at school in PA, I can put it in myself and not have anyone else touch my car.

What do I do if Auto Image still can't get the smell out? Do I take it further with Sunoco to have them pay for more damages like new seats or what?? I really hope everything can be fixed with just the detailing because I don't feel like going through the whole process of having everything redone. I just want it fixed and paid for.

PS - NJ is awesome, don't hate it just cause you don't live here Only the strong survive.

Before you get it detailed make sure their willing to pay that much. They may not know how much it will cost even though you're actually letting them off easy. If they give you a hard time tell them you want new seats.

First of all my concern would be the carpet and the seat foam. I am sure the gas went through the perforated seat cover and is cover the foam under the leather. If that were me... I would attempt the clean up with the detailer and if that fails I would be calling Infiniti to get an estimate on changing the carpet, door panels, and seat. Not to mention the stuff you had on your seat. In my opinion the attendant was flat out careless and negligent and they should compensate you. This could have been a lot worse what if the gas hit you in the face? You could have been blind or burnt. Man I would have freaked!

On a lighter note what do you think of the BAND OF BROTHERS movie? In my humble opinion it is the most incredible, authentic, stunning masterpiece ever filmed! My wife and I have seen it about 3 times since it aired on HBO. Did you know it was the most expensive made for TV movie ever made, somewhere around 180,000,000.00 US.

Man I think I am going to go and watch it tonight! Good luck with your car and let us know how you make out!!!!!!!!

Glad your ok!
