15K Mile Service - $400???
Hey,
I brought my car in for service today for the 15,000 mile service and I sat down with the lady in the office. I told her that I needed an oil & filter change, and the in-cabin micro-filter replaced, according to the service manual included with my car. The manual also requires "Inspection" of several other things for the 15K mile service but I didn't mention that since my car is running fine and dandy. She then pulled out this paper which stated the guideline for the 15K mile service...it was this huge list of more about inspecting things out than actually doing anything, for the price of $399.99. So I kindly said I'll just take the oil & filter change ($40) and have my in-cabin micro-filter replaced ($85) for a total of $125 + tax. I'm all for giving my car the maintenance that it needs since it always gets me from Point A to Point B reliably, but there was nothing on that $400 list that I felt I needed. Did I do the right thing??
Thanks,
MrElussive

I think the 30k one is $469.00 at my dealer. Its only an oil change with more checks.
Don't these dealers/district reps monitor these forums ? I do as much service myself, & if I can't handle it I'll take it to a local shop, I have confidence in. Had dealer install mud guards so I would get a pro-install. Charged me plenty & had to re-do it myself.

I picked the car up today. They said $85 parts & labor for the micro-filter and that seemed kind of pricey, but I let it go. They greased up my rear axle and rear suspension for free under warranty and they did the oil change for $40. When I came back to my car it had 10 more miles on the odometer, my seat was repositioned, and the stereo was on Hot 97, and my car was washed when I didn't ask for it. Next time, I need to specifically tell them that I they don't have my permission to drive my car.
Total came to $130. They kept making a big deal out of the 15K mile service thing, wanting me to pay $400 and crap....screw that, my manual doesn't say anything like that.

I had my 15k service done. Cost me $15 bucks or so.
Brought in my own MOBIL-1.
They charged me for a NISSAN OEM filter. (last time i'll be using that)
What was done?
Oil change and oil filter change.
Screw the incabin filter. Screw the tire rotations. (my rims are coming in next week)
Don't buy into it. It's a 15k milestone that your service dealer cashes in on.
They can't force you to do it, and they can't deny your warranty because you didn't do it. If they say so, kick em in the teeth for even saying such a stupid thing.
I had the 15k service done at a NISSAN dealership.
When it's 18750, i'll bring it to an infiniti service dept and tell them to check the spark plugs, fluids, have them put it on the work order. Be sneaky about it and cover my *** at the same time. They'd have to check em, (warranty) and can't really charge me because it's not part of a 15k mile service charge.
We'll see what happens.

Probably had some punk drive the car to a car wash. What dealership was this?

all they do for all the 15k 30k 60k 90k are check a bunch of things and replace if necessary. I think if the dealership replaced everything they checked it might cost 400 and be worth it. But they charge to 400ish to simply check and replace only if necessary so essentially if nothing has to be replaced they simply cashing in on 400$
