I usually steer clear of CAIs due to the risk of hydrolock. Per SexyRob's thread on intakes, you have the most advantageous intake setup until you get a tune.

The price seems really good and if you're looking for a different sound, it might be the way to go for you.

From the little reading/learning I've done here so far it seems that your setup is very efficient. Switching to a CAI would be mainly for that bling factor and sound.

So I guess you have to figure out if you like a flashy bay or appreciate a stockish looking one...

Best of luck!

i had the Z-tube/K&N drop in set up for a few months..then when i got the Nismo CAI probably felt a very minimal difference in power but sounded nice lol I've driven in the rain numerous times and have had no issues with hydrolocking

U dont have to worry about hydrolock cuz unless u took ur car for a swim in the ocean...not much water would get in ur engine and cause it to hydrolock

I used to hear stories of people driving through puddles and getting hydrolock. Is it not that easy? What if it's raining, you wash your car, etc.? I thought CAIs were pretty sensitive to hydrolock.

It has to be a "puddle" big enough to submerge your intake (or splash tons of water onto the intake so that it's covered and the only thing it can suck up is water). So by "puddle" here we're talking at least 6 inches deep, if not more.

Agreed, I installed the K&N Typhoon CAI(basically the same thing) and the only difference is lots of noise at 5000 or above rpm. I drive mine all the time in the rain being in VA and NC and never had any real issues with the CAI.
