Post Should I get another Extended Warranty for 2004 coupe?

Hey guys,

Trying to figure something out and hope someone can help on the math.

I currently have a 2004 coupe (A/T), 69K miles, under Extended warranty, which ends tomorrow. And I've been thinking for a while - does it make sense to drop another 2100 on an extended 3 years/36K miles warranty?

Also, calling in Bay Area, CA i was quoted 2100, while AZ dealership quoted 1600. Wonder how come there's such a big price diff.

Anyways, any input appreciated.

Thanks!

Highly consider the car's resale value at the time. Mine is a 2K6 and, as much as I baby my car, I would never consider buying a $3,000.00 warranty for a six year old car. It's just a huge waste of money.

Another question - anyone hear or used MPP warranty?

http://mpp.com/

The dealer offered this for 3 years/36K miles @ $1600.

FYI: I'm planning on keeping this car for at least 2 more years.

I'm usually against extended warranties...HOWEVER, on my 04 300M Special, it had an extended warranty and thank goodness it did, because the transmission solenoid pack failed along with some tie rod end problems which the warranty picked up for the tune of $1800 total. Paid for the warranty right there.

I must admit, I enjoy the peace of mind it gives me which has some real value to me, even if it is just psychological and overall a bad investment lol. Thinking of buying one now for my 03 G35..

My 04 coupe has an extended warranty and it covered the 600$ to replace the cd player and just a few weeks ago the 1500$ for the control arm/ bushings and door lock actuators (with labor)... Best investment i made IMO

Do you guys have aftermarket warranties? Company info would be helpful if you don't mind.
Thanks!

I would say it depends on how much you drive the car every year. Also if your able to work on your car to do repairs. yourself. If u drive the car alot I would say get it but if you dont then I would say dont get it. I have 109k miles on my 05 coupe and have yet to have any problems since out of warranty (knock on wood). Hope I helped.

I would just rather have the warranty as a backup plan for expensive parts such as the drivetrain. Even with DIY it becomes really expensive. It just seems like good info anyways since a lot of the coupes are going over the 100k mark and might have problems soon that won't be covered by factory warranty.

Update: So i went ahead and purchased the Elite warranty - 2 years:24K miles.

Doing the math, i figure - $1350/24= $56/month for peace of mind. Buying something new instead would cost more per month, so this way, i have the car that i like, and don't have to worry about technicals...

Resale value only matters if you're going to sell the car. So, it really depends on how long you plan to keep the vehicle.

I currently have an Elite Infiniti Warranty on my 04 Coupe that ends in May. Does Infiniti have an warranty that goes beyond an 8 year old car? I took out the 4 year warranty and it cost me $1350 at the time. I might consider an additional Infiniti extended Warranty if it was available.

^ I'm curious, did you have $1350 worth of repairs?

Both rear wheel bearings
3rd rear brake light
steering spindle with ball joint
transverse link (lower control arm)
radio/cd replacement.
valve cover gasket (oil leaking into spark plug valley)

I still have one month left. I'm bringing the car in for creaking in the front end (most likely compression rods), sun visor light not working, and seat belt retractor.

The warranty was definitely worth it. I just want to know if I can extend it further? I have a 2004 with 49,000 miles. Anyone know if there is anything available beyond my 2004 with 49,000 miles?
