Dyno Threads

Is there anybody that knows of a thread where I can see some good dyno plots mod by mod on the same car?

Ideally if I can't find that, I wouldn't mind seeing a baseline plot + a few of the good bang for the buck mods or even a stock motor before and after an Osiris tune. The reason i'm asking is because I'm not sure I really want to drop $1.5K on a full exhaust but most of the people going in for a tune seem to have this. Wondering if I can skip that and still get a nice gain with even just a spacer + intake or spacer + intake + HFC?

I've searched high and low and I can't seem to find one good thread with this for a non rev-up.

ie.
- baseline dyno
+ spacer dyno
+ HFC dyno
+ y-pipe dyno
+ tune dyno
etc.

I see tons where people do stock baseline then add on every bolt on known to man + dyno tune (or at least dropping like 3K+ then dynoing again).

Go to FORUMS click on Tech Area then Engine Drivetrain, you'll see the Dyno area where all your questions should be answered. Not 100% sure you'll ever find dyno results from each bolt on mod. MotorDyne spacers/MREV2 manifold and his ART Pipes gererally offer the best dyno results from my experience. MREV2 is just for '05+ MT G35s.... Gary

If you read my post, you would've known I have been searching quite a bit and my questions weren't answered from the posts I saw. Also, i'm looking for a non rev up as well...

Yeah i've read tons of posts saying how great these pieces are.

Just wondering if there were dynos showing the progression of each mod. Specifically at minimum somebody with a baseline + spacer/baseline + spacer + tune and/or baseline + spacer + HFC + tune. Can't go the test pipe route here because 1) not a fan of the smell, 2) emissions testing (so I don't want to pay to swap it in and out every year).

Not sure if you'll ever find a thread that does what you are looking for since dyno time is expensive and some of these mods are fairly inexpensive. Here what I have to help you out, not quite exactly what you are looking for and not quite the same components.

Baseline > Exhaust (headers+tp+y-pipe) > Intake(jwt popcharger, spacer, mrev2) > tune

Like I posted....^....when it costs $500+ for a tune and an additional $100 to retune your engine for any additional mods chances of your finding anyone that has done this w/b slim! That's why we finish our mods first, then get a tune. I understand you're trying to get the best bang for your $$ and that's always been MotorDynes spacers.

True I don't expect retune after each mod but it would be nice to see progessive dynos instead of a baseline then every bolt on + tune.

It was usually the case however that whatever car I was interested in modding at the time did have that one guy that would go through the trouble of dynoing each mod and then at the end tuning.

Gabe3d - that does help. Saved those plots before they disappeared into the abyss.

gary - true. I guess what i'm trying to do is to see what I could get with HFC + y-pipe + spacer + intake + tune will get me. Most people have gotten full catbacks instead of just the y-pipe. I think part of the reason i'm so hesitant is that i've read so many posts about rasp and crappy sounding exhausts that i'm a bit hesitant to go with a full exhaust. Seems that the only one people agree on are the MD ones but they're over $1.5K + waiting time + hassle sourcing it and getting it installed since i'm in Canada.

If there was some evidence that the catback would net me 15-20whp after tune vs. say an otherwise identical car I probably would start to consider it.

Man, I wish this car had the same whp gain as my old Maxima did back in the day from replacing the y-pipe. For <$300 I lost a bunch of weight (can't remember but probably 20-25lbs) and gained ~12whp. The catback added nothing so I just did the b-pipe next when it rusted out and for $250 installed, it gained another ~5whp.
