5/16 Motordyne Spacer difference

I don't know if anyone asked this yet but I am about to purchase the 5/16 Motordyne spacer for my 04 6MT Couple. What is the difference between the 3 with the exception of the price? Basic, Thermal, and Thermal copper...

Basic is just the spacer

Isothermal is a "gasket" that goes under the lower plenum over the runners. Reduces heat transfer from the runners up I believe.

Thermal copper I believe is for cold weather and just adds strength tooooo something? Someone chime in lol.

basic = good

Thermal = best

Thermal copper = best if you live in a hot summer / cold winter climate and are too lazy to turn the bypass valve on/off between seasons

Basically, the addition of the copper piece serves to keep your throttle body relative to the ambient temperature of your engine bay as to avoid damage from temperature fluctuation. So if you'll be driving in freezing temperatures often I would recommend it. If you live in a mild climate don't worry about it.

^i agree with what everybody else says. The one neat thing about the spacers is the top of the intake plenum never gets warm. makes me wonder if the air stays cooler inside the plenum since the temp would in theory be slightly cooler :/ I installed the isothermal one a few months after getting the G, the only downside was i had to buy the mrev2 lower plenum because i have a revup...but overall i have not had any issues, never adjusted the coolant valve in the winter but never had any issues from not doing it. love the sound it gave the motor, definitely one of the best mods for power.

Yes it does help with a cooler intake charge of air. The Motordyne Thermal gasket is somewhat of a fiber composite type gasket.... Im not sure if it insulates as good as Hondatas style.

I know for sure from Hondata's intake manifold gasket they claim a 5% hp difference, just because the prevention of heat-soak in the intake manifold.

You won't need the copper piece, bud. The copper is for driving in freezing conditions.

You need the isothermal kit that has the aramid gasket. It will help reduce heat transfer from the motor to the plenums.
