Anyone kno Wat is it n Wat it does? Does it come out? It's kind of in the way of seeing the brake fluid color. It jus floats there. I can push it down and it'll float back up. I didn't wanna push it too far down incase it gets stuck Cus its pretty difficult to pull out. I couldn't get it out to inspect. It's not in the fsm but if u search for the reservoir online in inifiniti parts u can see it between the strainer n res. But they don't mention Wat it is.

Bumping an old thread. Is there a way to remove this thing so that you can suck out the fluid all the way with a turkey baster? Otherwise, it blocks access to most of the brake fluid reservoir.Originally Posted by saywat?

The float? i dont think so, i actually let my res go dry and sprayed nearly a whole can of break clean let it dry for a few then bled the heck out of my whole brake system since I have no clue when mine was done seeing that the fluid was so dark! now its clear and super clean and no air in my system after using a brake bleeding tool to make things go much faster.

oh yeah faster is always better when it comes to making sure your car will stop when it has to. I did not know that brake clean was/is safe to spray in the reservoir Originally Posted by SeoulV35

Pretty sure the float is what the fluid level sensor on the side of the reservoir uses to tell the level...at least that is what other nissans use. Instead of a turkey baster, you can pick up a big syringe used to inject turkeys/meats with brine or marinade (usually near the baster @ superstore or dollar store and about the same price). I find it easier and cleaner to work with in smaller places.
edit to add: be sure to label your kitchen repurposed car tools...or bad eats can happen
