Strafe nismo front bumper install help

My installer tried putting the bumper on but told me that there are no predrilled holes for the bumper to connect to the quarter panel. The side marker lights are not Pre cut on the bumper. He doesn't know if he can install the oem grill because the slits are not on the bumper I got from strafe.

Do all of these bumpers come like this and how should I have my guy cut the slots for the side markers and oem grill.

Thank you.

I'd just have him cut it. Just make sure he does everything correctly, and try to see if while doing that, he can make sure the fitment is corrected (if there's big gap).

Did you take it to a reputable paint and body shop ?

Is it poly or carbonfiber ?

Are you paying him to do proper fitment and paint ?

Your installer should know how to install them. You can tell from the marks on the bumper where to drill and dremel holes.

If he does not know how to do that then I suggest taking it to another shop that knows what they are doing.

The installer is legit, we just never came across a bumper that had to be modified and worked on so much to fit. It's the poly nismo front. He didn't want to cut anything without my ok first.

Thanks for the help guys

Every poly nismo bumper comes that same exact way. It's an aftermarket body piece. He must not have much experience with them because most poly aftermarket body pieces come that same way. I've been thru plenty of different ones.

The fitment on that bumper should be close to dead on. Both of my nismos were. Both from strafe also. Cutting holes and drilling is easy. The side mounting points above the turn signals are the hardest to get perfect, but any decent body shop WITH aftermarket experience should be fine.

Not to knock anyone, but this is another good example of individuals who have no clue about aftermarket body parts, fabrication, etc. They all come without holes cut. This is because if all the holes were pre-drilled from the factory, nothing would fit, and if it did fit, you can bet you'd be paying 3x as much for it.....hence why OEM parts are so expensive....without the holes drilled, you can fit the bumper precisely. Any reputable body shop would know this and wouldn't be scratching their head at it. My first bit of advice would be to take it to a different body shop, because honestly, it doesn't sound like this guy has enough experience with aftermarket stuff. I have this exact bumper from strafe, I do all my own bodywork, and my bumper fits beautifully, perhaps as well as OEM....which if anyone knows anything about aftermarket body parts, that's saying a lot. Dont believe me? ...look at my pics. The bumper is made by VIS, a very reputable aftermarket company, just sold by strafe.

If the installer thinks that bumper requires a lot of modification to make fit, this must be his first aftermarket part. I've seen countless fiberglass kits that have had to be cut into pieces and almost completely remolded in order to make fit....that's a lot of modification. Lining up some holes and drilling them out is not difficult, I think mine took all of an hour to get on...minus paint time of course. Seriously dude, find a different installer...someone who specializes in aftermarket and not just replacing oem parts.

Thank you for all of the help. I must admit I am not familiar with these parts. My last car was a 94nsx that I just sold because I have to pay for PA school soon. With the nsx I went through downforce for all my 02 parts and nothing had to be modified to fit, everything was exactly oem and I never had to modify anything. I have real nismo side skirts on the g35 and they didn't need any modifications, just this front this bumper. I guess I'm use to things coming out of the box ready to go, that's why I went with nismo, I would of gotten the real nismo front but the fiberglass for a front bumper is a no no. My guy will make the cuts, I just thought I had a one of piece that didn't have any precuts.

I just fitted up my poly karuma bumper today and like stated above these do not come pre- drilled and some need a little tweaking. Mine also needed some tweaking and not all the drill marks were clearly marked. However if you just take your time and try to put it on and mark where the holes need to be drilled you shouldnt have a problem.

This is relatively easy. I just just use nail polish to mark the holes and they all were perfect. 2 hours of fitment and its dropped off for paint. Any body person who has aftermarket body parts experience should not have any issues what so ever. Keep in mind if it was FG it would take 3 or 4 times longer to fit up

Heres a pic.. These are my winter storage wheels (work GS4's on going on) so dont kill me too much. I know they are hideous

Genuine Nismo parts are considered OEM being they are from Nissan. That is the difference between OEM and most other companies making parts. That's also why genuine Nismo parts cost 3x what other brands do. Honestly the genuine Nismo front in fiberglass is probably close to the strength and durability of an aftermarket poly. It's not like a generic manufacturer's fiberglass....you can't really compare the two. Nismo's manufacturing process is generally at a much higher quality than others.
