I feel like I just need more.

I've had my 2004 g35 coupe since I was 16 years old. It was my first car and no it wasn't bought for me. I have done simple bolt-on mods to it such as Berk HFC, top-speed pro n1 exhaust, intake, lowering springs etc..Cosmetically I am happy with the car I just feel like I need more performance out of it. It has 82,000 miles on it and idk if it is a good idea to get a turbo on it or not. The right steps to do it and what not. BTW It is a 5AT and it is probably the one thing I hate about it the most. I know how to drive stick I was just pressured into the Auto because of the commute I make to school. I honestly would much rather have a manual and I just want more power. To put it simple ... what should I do? STS rear mount turbo on the stock block? Or Do an engine rebuild? Or just sell it and get a different car? I am stumped =/ I actually went to a deal to get a good idea and the dealer offered me 7500 for my car. I literally got up and walked out. All advice given will be respected.

Thanks a lot
- Sid

I was where you are like 3 months ago. Researched the cost of a Twin Turbo set up done right... Like $20K easily. & even with doing it correctly there is no guarantee that it will last. I said F it and traded it in towards an 09 335i coupe. Its abt the same amount as a TT build wld've cost but I just wanted something new in the end. I will say I miss my G. I find myself looking at older high mileage models on AutoTrader to purchase str8 out as a project car. The G is just the Sexiest car ever made to me, I love it like a woman. Do a lot of research before you make your decision. Whichever you decide is going to cost money. Good luck

You mentioned a bunch of bolt ons, but have you tuned it? there's a lot of responsiveness and daily driveable power to be gained from an uprev reflash and ecu tune. Just syncing the throttle makes a huge difference (the electronic throttle never opens 100% in stock configuration)

Honestly unless you have very deep pockets and don't mind the hassle of something always going wrong I wouldn't go FI. Some guys have great luck, some don't, but even the best of them have a ton more maintenance issues. Seems like its always something...

I could easily get more done to the car, but I suddenly just stopped modding it because I was thinking about just trying to sell it because I would just be digging in too deep into the car when what I truly want something quicker and a MT. Is me when I try to think of what I should do. I don't have deep deep pockets, so I am not sure. I was also considering just selling my car or trading it towards an already boosted Z or G with papers.

I would definitely NOT buy a boosted Z or G then. Figure that you can get stuck with a $5,000 minimum repair bill at any time, not to mention all the other little incidentals along the way

I guess I will just keep it then and add little things to keep me happy with it. I get something new and put it on and then after about maybe a month I get bored and HAVE to do something else. I guess I will do the Uprev tune, but I do wanna get 5/16th spacers first. Any ideas on what this car would get with full bolt ons and a tune?

You'll put down around 260, but the useable power will improve alot. Check the
marketplace for a used spacer, should be able to save you some money

260whp/240tq roughly. Stillen Z Tube, K&N Filter, 5/16th plenum spacer, ART test pipes, Borla true dual exhaust, Transgo shift kit and Osiris Tune was my old set up. Here's the link for the Osiris Tune. Most ppl have all their mods listed as well. https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...ht=Osiris+Tune
