Has anyone just done a z-tube mod? It seems everyone does it as a combo but I don't really care to. And I'm only doing it for the sound. Just want it to be a little louder thats all.

I just did it yesterday (z-tube & stock filter) on my 07 G35 coupe. Didn't notice much diff in anything.

I cleaned my MAF and throttle body too... now all I have is a funky idle

Did you disconnect the battery before messing with the throttle body? The idle relearn procedure may fix it.

Which is why I just disconnect the battery for approximately 20 minutes every time I need to reset something, finish it off with some spirited driving and everything works fine.

Pop Chargers "Suck Hot Air!"

Good choice blues, the z-tube will change the sound and by adding a quality drop in filter you'll be fine. New Noob members don't realize when they add the pop-charger during warm weather it will cost them a ton of RWHP due to that aluminum piping heating the incoming air, that's called heat soak. Alternatives are Stillens CAI which is made of plastic composite or like I advised, an aftermarket drop in filter like AMSOIL or K&N....Gary

No. Left it connected. Did a test drive and the idle was too high (1k) and didn't come down as fast when I let off the accelerator.

Then I tried disconnecting the negative for ~30 min and did some more driving (some very "spirited"). No change.

I'm trying to avoid having to do the idle re-learn (because I heard it's a PITA) so we'll see how the next couple days go - If the car/computer adapts a bit better or not.

Sorry to hijack

Sound wise, def. I have the z tube w/out the popcharger and there was clear difference in stock g-tube and the z tube (at high rpm). At low rpm its the same.

i installed a ztube and an apexi drop in filter friday and didnt notice much of a difference. Just a little bit of a sound changed under the hood. But im sure it didnt hurt me any. Like said above, a good quality air filter will go along ways
