My 05 6MT disappeared & found!
10/31? you should have had a vin by now.
What car is it?
As far as the main topic of this. Sounds like they are jerking you around. Threaten them with the BBB and a lawyer. Don't get jerked around. Happened to me for like a week, went in told them what I'd do, got service after some threatening.
Your deposit is refundable whenever you want it.

i ordered a 2005 6mt coupe. but, i'm hearing conflicting stories--some say that you get your vin# when they put the order in, while others say about a couple weeks before the car is due to arrive. so....i'm confused: (

I got a new question for all of ya. I didn't want to start a new thread since my question somewhat deals with onG's situation.
If someone puts a deposit on a car like in my situation, would it appear on Infiniti.com website under vehicle inventory? Eventhough the vehicle is already pre-sold? Also, if a vehicle is on Infiniti.com website what does that mean in regards to the true status of the vehicle? ie. If a 2005 6MT appears online under the dealership's inventory and the they claim that they don't have any 6MTs yet, what does this mean? Is the vehicle in transit to the dealership? Did it leave the LA/NJ ports yet? I remember when GRUBBS had their first two truckload of 6MTs, coupes and sedan, I don't think they even appeared online under their inventory at all, since they were already sold maybe? Does it make a differ if the paperwork was already done with? Does the dealership have the right to place it online? Or does Infiniti place the vehicle online?
K, yeah, its was more then 1 question..hehe

thanks wanautica, we're both in the same boat.....dying to get our new cars. i already sold my 5at coupe and am suffering from g-withdrawals!!!! but i guess i should be hearing something soon: )
I was told that the VIN# is created when the car has been completed in Japan. Upon completion it is then assigned to the dealership who ordered it. At that point, they were able to track it when it was scheduled to leave Japan, when it arrives in port, then it should be a couple of days (or less???) till they truck it to the dealership site. I was told my car was completed on/around the 10th of December, but for unknown reasons it was delayed, like everyone else's. I don't know about the webpage updates, but mine showed up the day the other dealer received it -and this was a pre-purchased car. Try to call the dealership and find out how many orders are before yours. I would think they could go right down the line and find yours. Hope this helps.
I wouldnt complain at all! If anything, I would be thanking them. Provided that you get a loaner car, you can redline the hell out of it on the meantime. Not only that, but since they are bringing anotherone just for you, that car will not have been test driven by anyone previously. My friend bought a 04 wich was indoors with windows down as show car and my car (even though I had it 3 months before him) smells like new while his doesnt anymore.
onG,
I had a similar problem. Douglas Infiniti in NJ had a car on the lot that I wanted. They said they did not think it was available but were double checking. Then they came back and said it was available. I negotiated, put a deposit down and did the preliminary paperwork -- I don't think there is really anything in that paperwork that is binding. I was going on vacation for a week and said I would pick it up a week after that. While on vacation I started getting funds together and then received a call from the dealer saying the car was NOT available, but they ordered me a new one and it is being shipped -- of coarse stating it was "the last 04 6mt coming from the factory" -- yeah right. Anyway, they said that the one ordered would be in within a month or so and it was mine -- did I still want it.
I think they had a buyer come in who wanted the car quicker than I did and sold it out from under me. What they did was to try to take me out of the market. Another sales tactic.
Ironically I received a web quote from another dealer who said that they had the exact car I wanted, gave me the VIN and the initial price offered happened to be better than what I negotiated previously. I bought that one and all was smooth.
I was pretty upset at the dealership for what they tried to pull over on me. I will never do business with them or recommend them to anyone. Douglas Infinit in Summit NJ.
In your case, it sounds similar that the dealer isn't being completely honest with you. However, getting a loaner in the mean time is a pretty good deal! I could live with that.
Good luck.

well, it looks like i finally got my vin#.....but according to the infiniti website, it's the wrong car and not to my specs!!!! ironically, the salesperson that i ordered from left the dealership soon after i ordered. then the sales manager that took over the order has now just left too!!! so no one knows what's going on anymore : (
Wellz, I know this is a lil off topic. But I just found out today that my 2005 6MT will be here tomorrow at the dealership.
I won't be picking it up until this Friday though. I'm anxious yeah. I can't wait. Wish luck to me peeps, will post pics soon.
The drive to the dealership is about 1 1/2 hr away at the most, so you know the drive home will be FUN!!!. Its gonna be about a year now since I seriously thought of getting a G. 1 year has gone by so fast when your waiting for something good at the end.
