I am having the front lip put on at my local Infiniti dealer as part of my purchase. They claimed it was $391 their cost. Obviously over estimating it. However they said yesterday they are going to have to paint it to match. I am supposed to get it put on tomorrow. Why would they have to paint it, if they come pre-painted?

Anyone have ideas before I ask them tomorrow?

As far as the original question. The price sounds a bit high for the spoiler, but I would be glad to pay $75 to not install it myself.

Sorry dude, you're being worked on.... they don't paint $hit. It comes pre-painted from Japan. I think the paint deal they're trying to sell you is so they can justify their high cost. My dealer wanted $399 for the lip + $150 for the install. Went to Grubbs and installed it myself. Ended up saving some $250.

Yea man... Dan's services are expensive!!
Neil (he insisted) bought us pizza... I, however, did at the very least provide soda... LOL

It's not quite so easy as drilling holes, you do have to remove more than a few nuts under the car, but very easy doing it yourself. Got mine done in less than an hour, and that was talking/chatting in between with others. I did have a hydraulic lift so it did help a little.

SAVE YOUR $$$ and do it yourself! They're just trying to rip you off. The lips come PAINTED from Japan. Don't let them scam you!

OK - As it turns out I was talking to an idiot at the dealer. When I actually talked to the person putting them on, he was just waiting for them to come in. So they are pre-painted as expect.

I picked up the G35c last night after getting the front lip, rear spoiler and splash guards put on. What a difference in appearance! I especially love that front lip spoiler.

does anyone know how much lower the bumper gets with the front lip? i was thinking about getting it when my car comes in, but i will be driving in the winter and i don't want to plow the snow everywhere i drive (which i assume will be happening regardless). thanks.

The bumper itself doesn't really get any lower with the lip. The lip is only 2-3mm tick. But with that "aggressive" look, the lip extends the length of the car a bit.... maybe by a couple of inches.
If you install the lip, you'll have to be careful when pulling out of a very steep (>45 degrees) driveway:

sounds good... thanks for the info. i'm used to steep hills... being a former vette owner, i had my fair share of learning from the ever so present grinding noises that used to turn my stomache.
