Need advice!

After installing an earth grounding kit, 4 days later while driving i noticed a wire burning smell coming thru the vents while running the ac. Last night while stting in the car listing to the radio everything flashed off then back on yet the car stayed running. After turning the car off and going in the house for about three hours, went to leave and the alarm remote didn`t work opened the door with key and no interior light car wouldn`t start. after disconecting the postive line for awhile it all came back on. Next morning I got up to look at everything under light and found that the 100 amp side of the battery fuse looked alittle smoked but not blown, after futher inspection found the wire that goes to the 100 amp fuse was melted a little as if its been getting hot and melted the plastic connector that plugs into the fuseable link that connects to the battery. Its only the wire on the right side of the connector as there are a total of four wires ( two in the grey connector and two in the black connector ) the wire on the right of the black connector is whats getting hot and melting. any ideas on a fix or whats causing the problem.

Sounds to me like you have a wire grounding out on the body somewhere. Or at the very least another wire grounding out on another wire itself. First thing to do is recheck all the conncections you made.

Can`t find anything touching and all I did was install the grounding kit to grounding points on engne. There`s no way I could have possibly grounded any of the kit wires to anything with a positive current on it. I`m thinking and hoping that the battery fusiable link was bad and the extra ground just helped it go out faster, has anyone else had this issue of the wire on the far right of the fusible link which is the 100 amp fuse, start to melt that wire and weaking the fuse. Whatever it is is not enough to blow the fuse but enough to heat the wire running to it.

Grounding kit was one of my first mods when SLICK was new and have never had any issues. You need to begin by removing the grounding kit you installed, see how that works for ya....Gary

Checked all connections, there good. Alternator was charging at almost 15 volts so changed it out and so far so good, hopefully that fixed the problem. But every now and then the alarm is still acting up like it`s not working right, which was the frist sign before the wires melted, so i`m always checking the wire for heat damage now.
