RPM Needle Bounces Around/ Shakes
Hey guys,
I just bought an 07 coupe and had it inspected before I bought it and everything checked out with the dealer so no accidents or what not.
Anyway, today I noticed that when I first turn the car on the rpm needle goes to around 1800 and bounces a few times. Also the RPM needle seems to move very slow and seems like its loose if that makes any sense? Like it doesn't react as quickly as the engine is revving I did a search and some people on here have had this issue and it seems like it might be a loose hose somewhere but i'm worried it could be indicative of some kind of transmission issue.
The car accelerates fine and I can't tell any noticeable power loss but is this something I should be concerned about? Also, any idea of what it could be? Here's the video: the car seems to shake very slightly where the needle stops for a second.

No I had it checked out by my mechanic but I called up my dealer to get a service history on it and it was getting routinely serviced there and everything looked in order. Although a few months back he had the engine air filter changed at Firestone, could a faulty filter installation cause some of these symptoms?
Does the motor display any symptoms of bouncing around idling down like the needle does?
Might just be a bad or faulty sensor. Especially considering you're sitting in neutral and revving the car.

Saw this probably three hundred times on customers cars and loaners when I worked at Infiniti. Happened on a lot of G's, M's, QX's etc... only the newer Infiniti's. No one ever complained about it and I never really cared other than thinking, "That's odd". More than likely it's just something to do with the cluster itself.

Well that puts my worries to rest a little. The only thing is when say I accelerate up to around 30 and then let off the gas and as the car slows down it downshifts a little "jerkily", not much just can feel the car downshift. Do I need to do that relearn procedure I've see on here?

Oh and it's not like a rough "jerk" it's smooth but I can still really feel it downshift, kinda like it downshifts too late so it's really sudden.

I also have an 07 and have the same needle issue. Its annoying but its nothing to worry about as far as I know. I've put on 15,000 KMs since I bought the car last summer and they've all been smooth as butter.
