Opinions: Body Side Moldings

I was curious on your guys' opinions on the body side moldings on the G just to see what everyone thinks. How does it look on the G? I haven't seen one with the moldings both outside and inside the dealership. Does the G look cleaner without it? Or does it help enhance the detailed look of the G (assuming you have a light exterior color)?

this should prompt a lot of responses...all of which are going to further confuse u lol. i have a BS coupe WITH side moldings....it wasnt my choice but the dealer got that one in first, and told me that they can take em off. I figured lemme see how i like em give em a week to a month if i dont like em go back and get em taken off. I now LOVE the side moldings i think it adds to the nice lines of the car and flows well, i also feel it breaks up our 'large' doors and it also makes the car seem as if its sitting lower and more aggressive (just my opinion)
BUT, u'll never know unless u stare and really take notice, good luck on ur choice, either way u win cuz u have a G !!

my car had the bsm pre-installed. i kept them on for 5 months and finally decided to take them off. you can compare the first 2 pics on my site....i think no bsm's give it a sportier look, although the 2nd pic is a little biased with more goodies on the car. but you get the general idea.

Personally, I always hated how they looked, but after seeing them recently at a small meet on an Ivory Pearl car, and I liked it on the light color. I hate it on dark colors still though. I will say that it would be nice to have them sometimes. I already got one door ding.

I personally don't like it and have not got it on my Coupe, but if I couldn't be so choosy about where I park, I'd have it in a flash.
So it depends on your lifestyle.
Most people would be better with it IMHO, since they can't pick and choose where they park.

do you think with so many different types of doors and heights the body side mouldings help prevent door dings? (door dings really make me mad)...

You're right, on the Coupe I prefer naked, but on the Sedan they look fine. I had them on my '03 Sedan and they weren't intrusive at all.
True they are small and would only give a little protection. With or without them, I park out in the boonies anyway to try to minimize doorbanger damage.

Yea i try to also, especially with my new M... But parking is crazy here in NY everywhere, and my friend tried to do that with his brand new WRX at school, there werent any cars around him and someone happened to hit it and he never found out who, now that sucks

G4s: Thanks for the pic, it really help me visually. It doesn't look too bad, something that you can live with, but you are right, without them they seem to make the car look cleaner and sleek. However, I'm sure with a very light color car, it would help give the G some definition.

Thanks for everyone's opinions!

The side moldings give the G some depth. I thought they broke up the monotony of that long, smooth door. I think they make the car look cool. They cause a little extra work when I wax the car though...but I can live with that.
