Your right, it's Kenwood. I'm not sure what I was thinking. Thanks for the correction.

Re: AFTERSALE NAVI SYSTEM

There is a superior solution to this question. I have owned three Garmin SteetPilots, and swear by them. Up until July 6th this year, Garmin has a rebate offer of $100 on the StreetPilot III. Net cost until July is $670.00. This unit will fit into the pit where the factory Nav unit would have gone. See attached pictures.

Here is an URL on someone not on the Garmin payroll who writes extensive reviews about the product. This review was written by Joe Mehaffey, and he knows a lot about the StreetPilot product.

One of the best advantages of this unit is that you can easily place in another vehicle, wife, significan other, rental car. etc. It provides steet level detail anywhere in the US. The guts of the unit can be upgraded by downloading appropriate software from Garmin Hdq. Here is their URL on the SteetPilot.

Hope you find this helpful.

The only catch is it can't store all of North American in it's little memory chips, can it? You have to pre-load it with the areas you'll be travelling in off a computer.

I was looking at the Magellan 750M not too long ago. Now they have a new, smaller model: Magellan 750M Plus

Re: AFTERSALE NAVI SYSTEM

The biggest chip available now is 132Mb, but I have found that a chip that size has allowed me to install almost all of California, and key parts of Illinois. I frankly am not interested in states I have never driven, and probably won't. If you needed more capacity than the 132Mb chip, you could of course, buy additional memory, or temporarly, erase what you have already installed on the 132Mb chip.
