Few questions about the 2005 5AT

If I was flooring the car in a straight line, would it be faster in manual mode rather than leaving it in drive?
How bad is it to drive the whole trip in manual mode?
Also, how damaging is it to hold gears at high revs in manual mode? I heard it puts more stress on an automatic transmission than a manual transmission.

1. If you know how to use it then i think manual mode would be faster especially from a role 2. not bad might waste more gas 3. i think you eventual mess something up by doing that even on a manual lol

I'm going to say something here that will probably meet with some criticism. But if you want to improve the shifting of manumatic mode on the cheap and in a non-permanent fashion as oppossed to a Transgo valve body rebuild. Try a Sprint Booster. It is a plug that plugs into the throttle position sensor on top of the gas peddal. It boosts the signal to the ECU which in turn transfers the signal to the TCU quicker. It removes the lag normally ssociated with drive by wire. When you shift in MM it allows you t get back on the throttle quicker wich in turn improves shifting. It can be had for $299.00 shipped if you look around and has a 30 day guarantee. If it doesn't perform as advertised you can just unplug it and send it back. It significantly improves throttle response when in manumatic mode. I've had one for five years and recommend it as a cheap alternative to the $800 Transgo. I also consider it a plus because when it's time to sell the car you can easily remove it. I'm not convinced that the transgo will appeal to some perspective buyers.

1. Manual mode is faster yea, Drive short shifts
2. Not bad at all
3. At higher revs the torque converter is locked, but yea its going to heat up the transmission. No reason to keep it at 4k+ for long, if you are accelerating bring it up its fine. But don't just sit there at 5k rpm cruising lol

I came from a maual to 5AT and find myself using the tiptronic ofter. I aslo put in Neutral to Coast and back into Drive. Not sure if that is bad on the 5AT?

ofter? Often? I use my Manual mode all the time in the streets, on the highway I keep it in Drive.

forget neutral to coast, you are wasting gas. When you coast in gear the injectors shut off.
