VQ's were out before the whole Renault partnership, so no.

Also it was said that Hyundai liked the VQ35 and used it in consideration for their Genesis Coupes V6

lol your friend is pulling facts out of his butt. They have no relation other then similar design since there both v6 OHC all aluminium engines made by a asian company.

The Genesis engine is slightly more advanced with the use of Direct injection.

that is a horrible reason to believe someone. If you really want to know you should look up the info yourself.

Here's a video about the hyundai v6 found in the genesis coupe v6 and genesis sedan.

http://youtu.be/hHmM4hO9lP8

There only similar in the fact there OHC v6 all aluminum engines. The vq35 and vq37 is probably the first v6 to offer this level of performance but the competition has caught up.

Hyundai designed both the v6 and v8 on there own.

The 2.0L turbo was designed in partnership with chrysler and mitsubishi.

You can even make similar comparisons to the v6 in the new mustang with a 3.7L v6 all aluminum OHC with variable valve timing outputting around 305hp.

The new hyundai v6 is 342 hp.

Never ever trust a dealership mechanic... just read threads on here and start to hate them when you see them trying to charge some person who knows nothing about cars $1,500 for new pads and rotors
