Brembo Rotor and Hawk Brake Pad Questions...

1. Are all brembo slotted rotors gold?

2. What are the correct Hawk brake pads that are good for street driving and have low dusting? Green Stuff or something like that?

3. Where is the CHEAPEST place to get front and rear rotors and pads?

TIA...

Be careful of Brembo "knock off's", lot's of places sell them as Brembo, but they are not! True Brembo rotors are gold, that is cadmium plating to prevent the rotor from rusting, I can tell you from experience that is wears off once you pass 12 months! If I do them, I will hi temp clear coat them before installing.

FYI" Green Stuff pads are EBC brand

I have heard really good things about the Hawk HPS pads, but do not have experience with them? I also heard that Axis Deluxe pads are good, both low dust alternative with good wear and easy on rotors.

Ebay is the cheapest! Patience is needed to find the write setup, if you lack the patience try Tire Rack, I have bought from them and like them!

Neff, I don't know about the rotors (I'd go with stoptech 2-piece myself) but as far as the pads go, I have the Hawk HPS and they are great for both street and track...I get virtually NO dust.

Well, how come the stock rotors are not gold? I'm afraid that the gold rotors will look tacky behind my PIAA's with the silver finish...

Also, I thought I had to keep brembo rotors with the brembo calipers? Can't mix the stoptech hats and brembo calipers, can I?

I think all in all the gold will look great! I have not seen your car, but I love the gold on my 330i!

Sure you can buy another brand rotor other than Brembo, just be sure they are the same specs as the stock rotor (i.e. diameter, offset, thickness), replacement rotors will always tell you whether you need to relocate the calipers, or if it is direct OE replacement.

here are the gold rotors behind my BMW wheels, it is pretty subtle really unless your hubs are really small. You really only see the gold on the hats themselves:
