Not changing the filter every OCI is not uncommon at all, If you buy a premium filter they can go 10 to 15k without issue.

I always by my oil when its on special which comes with a filter so I change it out since I dont want to be stacking filters for no reason lol.

Mobil-1 or Purolator Pure-One oil filters are what I use in my car. I've heard great things about the NAPA Gold filters, but have never tried them myself.

Quote: You said you wanted the absolute best, and Mobil 1 is not the best for this application..... it's more than sufficient, just not even close to the best.
Quote: Mobile 1 is a great oil, just doesnt seem to be so great with our engines.
Mobile 1 used to be a great oil until they changed their formula a few years back.

This is an old argument which oil is best, most oils are good but the key is good oil filter, not much happens to most modern oils, except they get dirty but don't loose the lubricity or cooling or cleaning quality, change of filter s/b more important.

the best judge of the oil is the way your high millage car performs on a certain oil.

My G got s125k miles on a German Castrol 0W30
I get 20 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. No smoke, no clicking in the engine and no oil consumption.

I'm willing to bet that those numbers outperform most of the high millage Gs out here, and I'm willing to bet that oil I used has something to do with it.

JOKER you loose the bet hello:I use Mobile 1 5w30, oem filter and I do have 125k miles owned since 2002 from zero miles, I get 21+ in city and 25+ on the highway.- The oil has does contribute to mpg but keeping filters clean is most important with fluids to recommended levels, good spark plugs, tire pressure and alignment and keep is clutter free:>!

FYI 125k miles is really not that much. True, it was in the past before aluminum blocks, ECUs, etc... but modern motors should barely be wearing at 100k.

And according to the oil analysis, Mobile 1 5W30 doesn't seem to perform that well.
