The 5AT is great and a lot of fun to play with, but where I come from stick cars are all we know. I miss it, especially in a sport coupe. So 6MT it is
Not true....my old 00' celica GTS would run at best 14.8 stock and the auto's (same hp and torque) ran a full second slower, at best 15.9, big difference in ranges for the auto's...they were just dog slow.

My previous '01 acura Cl-s auto's would run at best 14.5 and the 6mt would run at best 14.0.

I agree that the stick has the potential to be faster, but to make a blanket statement as regards the G auto vs stick IMO is ignorance of each cars performance chracteristics- especially if comparing it to a Celica or a CL. They are different cars. There are timeslips of people running 14.1 stock on 5AT coupes which is 1/2 second better than the best "listed" mag times. There are many more accounts of 6Mts running 6's 0-60 and 14.6 in the 1/4 which is about .1 second faster 0-60 and .06 seconds faster than the worst auto times I've seen "listed".. not as signifigant in the G. It mainly comes down to driver skill. Not to mention these cars are tested pre break-in which has an even more signifigant impact on the AT.

I agree with you. 6mt is faster than AT for most part. And it is a true statement that you'll learn how to DRIVE cars with MT much more. I can never go through corners as fast as I do in rally race with MT, but I still get excitement from chasing faster cars with AT, not to mention I can use the left foot braking, use gas to correct sliding and be able to **** gears with manumatic mode at the same time Enjoy your ride! (regardless of MT/AT)

AND Drive safe!

I would've gotten a 6MT... but I just drink too much Starbucks for a manual... I'm not "skilled" enough to drive with my knees yet. =P

I agree People who are concerned with performance will likely mod their cars anyway.. then you can just throw stock numbers out the window.
