Lightbulb Can Intelligent Key be installed in 05 Coupe?

My 05 auto Coupe is on its way. Does anyone know if the sedan's factory Intelligent Key option can be OEM installed in the Coupe? Thanks!

I doubt it, but check with a tech at the dealer to be sure.

Lightbulb Intelligent Key for Coupe: technology not difficult

Thank you for answering. Technologically, it doesn't seem that difficult. All keys have a transponder frequency tuned to a specific car and a receiver which unlocks the doors remotely. Therefore, the circuitry already exists for tuned transmission and receiving. The sedan either has a mechanical or electrical sensor on the door handle which activates the transponder in the key fob, or vice versa. The ignition switch circuitry must also be tuned to the same frequency or band of frequencies emitted by the fob. It seems straightforward for an OEM door sensor to be installed [it may already be physically present but not activated] on the Coupes. If the Coupe's ignition switch doesn't already have the onboard circuity, it should be uncomplicated to "switch" it out for an OEM part. At worst, one power supply wire would need a connection 'behind' the switch; however I would bet everything's on the switch itself. Its too expensive for manufacturers to make completely separate components for cars of the same make, particularly when its electronic-mechanical componentry and not a body/styling item. I'd be surprised if the technology isn't already in our Coupes! Does anyone know why Infiniti didn't put the Intelligent Key option in the Coupes?
Thanks again for responding!

sdhsd,
It can't be done (unless you want to spent a crap load of money on custom work). I just picked up my '05 and it doesn't have the circuitry or the button on the door handle that you would need to make an itelligent key work. I agree that it would be a cool little gimmick to have on the coupe, but it's just not there.

Intelligent key more useful to women?

The intelligent key is probably more useful to women than guys. Guys usually keep their keys in their pant's pocket; most of us engage in an archeological dig into our purses. My friends really enjoy their intelligent keys on other cars. Thanks for your input.
