when I have the headlights on (night driving). I have had to drive w/no dashboard lights quite a few times. The dash lights come on, but just not when I have my headlights on, to make my post clearer. I am takin' the car in for another issue on Thursday, but am hoping I can fix this issue myself if it's a simple fix. Please help. Thanks mucho!

BTW - in ref. to a 2006 G35 Coupe

Sometimes when I get in or out of my G my knee will brush up against the dash brightness ****. I'd place a bet that yours is all the way down.

I also agree with ^^jsmith29. Also check your fuse box by your dead pedal, for any blown fuses.

I have not located a dash brightness **** anywhere...that is one of the first things I checked for. The brightness of the dash is fine in daylight. What baffles me is why the dash won't light up when my headlights are on....I will def. check for a fuse box tomorrow. Thanks.

Yeah, that's what I thought when the issue originally presented itself, because in my previous car....looked the same. Thanks for confirming where it was. I don't drive that often at nite, so I haven't even doublechecked to make sure that it's not a blown/short fuse either. Thanks again to all respondents

Sincerely, a ma'am

It's by your left knee. By the switch that opens the trunk. It is a little wheel that rolls up and down.

alright im having the same problem but accompanying this problem is no running rear lights. brakes lights work when pedal is pressed but when released they go dark. i have checked the fuses. now here lies the main problem: the fuse was blow, alright. so changed the fuse and as soon as i turned the lights on it blew the fuse. well i put a larger fuse in and it did the same thing. so im thinking that it may be the actually headlight switch is done for and may need a replacement. anybody's thought on what could be going on?

You have a wire touching metal somewhere that is causing a dead short everytime you turn the lights on after fuse replacement. Check front side markers for any fraying of wires because that is where the most common area is. If not there then check harnesses for both tail lamp assemblies. Hope this helps

i figured it might be the problem but the other problems dont really add up to the wire shorting such as the dashlights dont turn on anymore. also this happened at the same time, dashlights stopped working and i noticed the rear lights out, and also my side markers never have work as long as i have owned her (1 and a half years)
