24 5mm LEDs in clear side marker/turn signal!

I just recently did the side marker modification which is now a turn signal BUT I did not do it the way most guys here have done...I did it the CORRECT WAY with a couple of relays. I also opened up my clear side marker/turn signal and installed 24 LEDS, it looks amazing! pictures and video coming tomorrow 1/17/05 Here are the pics and video as promised!

yes it was tedious work! I used a blank circuit board purchased from radio shack and ordered 5mm LEDs from this guy in Cali. I opened my clear corners, cut the circuit board to match the case, then individually place each led in line the wired everything up

What were the specs of the LED's?
You also mentioned relays? How were they wired and why?
In your video you also said you drilled something out... can you explain what it was?

I think it would look better if all of the inside was covered with LED's...no? Just my opinion I guess. But awesome work. I see this as a very good show mod.

Thanks “GLIN”, can’t wait to see that speedo mod. To answer you question “TrueG” the LED specs are: 5mm/ 3.3 volts / 20ma/ I wire 3 LEDS in series then used a 220 ohm resister for each set of 3…I originally said I used 24 LEDs…I for got I added 1 more to the very front of the lens so I had to use a 560 ohm resistor for that…see this site for help with wiring LEDs in series http://www.casemodgod.com/led_calculator.htm I then dremeled out the back of the lens and used a blank circuit board purchased from radio shack, this particular circuit board is perfect because it has tiny holes which line up perfect with the LEDs pigtails. I then cut the board match the lens housing and individually place each led in line then wired everything up. I used a two part resin to seal everything up. Now in order for the Lens to fit back into it’s location you would have to deepen the opening because the wiring and Resin from the setup is deeper than the stock Lens case. I could have installed LEDs to fill the lens but space was an issue> I thinks it’s fine the way it is.

Oh I almost forgot...I also dremeled out my orange turn signal which required me to drop my bumper, remove my head light and bake them. I followed "GeoBau" instructions to the letter and all went perfect! I added black silicone to reseal and no condensation...I've been to my local handwash spot at least 5 times since and no condensation! I give this mod a difficulty rating of 2 1/2 on a scale of 1-5.
